List of IITs in India

Courses, Specialisations, Infrastructure & Rankings and Accreditations

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) stand as a collective of esteemed engineering and technology-centric institutions of higher learning. Endowed with autonomy and declared as Institutes of National Importance by the Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India, these prestigious establishments were founded with the express purpose of nurturing scientists and engineers.

IITs have played a pivotal role in shaping the technological landscape of India and the world, producing some of the most brilliant and accomplished engineering minds. These institutions offer undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various fields of engineering, technology, and science. IIT graduates are highly sought after by leading global corporations and research institutions.

Students aspiring to seek admission into an IIT, must first meet the eligibility criteria and register for the JEE Main examinations. Upon clearing for the JEE Main examinations, candidates are required to clear the JEE Advanced examination. Qualifying candidates have to participate in the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counselling process. The qualifying candidates have to complete an online registration process on the JoSAA official website and select their choice of specialisation and institute as per their qualification and rank and lock the seats. The JoSAA releases mock allocations and thereafter the final allocations. Students can study the detailed process on the official website of JoSAA.
