Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi was established in 1961. The major emphasis of the institute is on providing quality education and training in the field of science, engineering and technology. The autonomous university is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Students are taught by world-class academic members who are extremely knowledgeable and supportive. Besides, they are benefited with an in-depth learning process of the well-qualified faculty. The Government institute offers various undergraduate courses such as B.Tech in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology; Chemical Engineering; Computer Science and Engineering; Civil Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Electrical Engineering (Power); Electrical Engineering (Power and Automation); Mathematics and Computing; Mechanical Engineering; Production and Industrial Engineering ; Engineering Physics; Energy Engineering; Engineering and Computational Mechanics; Material Engineering; Textile Technology and B.Des. Besides, the IIT Delhi offers a dual degree program comprising UG and PG - B.Des + M.Des - Dual Degree. Admissions at IIT Delhi are done online. Candidates are required to meet all the eligibility criteria of the individual course they are applying for. To get admission to B.Tech programmes and Dual Degrees, students must secure a valid score in JEE Advanced. On the other hand, students are required to qualify for the UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design) to get admitted in B.Des course. Most importantly, the selection is merit-based. Students must have passed their 10+2 school leaving test from a recognised board of secondary education.

Various scholarship schemes which are provided by many alumni, corporates and philanthropists are available for students. Besides, a tuition fee waiver is offered to 10% of undergraduate students who belong to the economically backward section.

A range of expert talks, workshops and seminars are conducted by IIT Delhi Placement Cell who help students to acquire skills for landing jobs in reputed companies. Students get recruited through on-campus hiring conducted by the placement cell. Students are provided with training sessions to be well-equipped for the future.

Smart air-conditioned classrooms, a large auditorium, fully air-conditioned and WIFI enabled lecture halls, a traditional library consisting of numerous books, a digital library with e-resources, on-campus WiFi and subject based state-of-art laboratories are some of the facilities that are available at the IIT Delhi. Apart from this, the IIT Delhi has hostel accommodations separate for boys and girls, outdoor sports facilities for playing football, cricket, tennis, basketball and more, indoor sports facilities including squash courts, badminton hall, a 14 bedded hospital and a cafeteria.

Admission Procedure

Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi’s admissions are conducted online. To apply for their undergraduate degrees, candidates must meet all the required eligibility requirements of the course for which they candidate is applying for. The candidate has to go through the online admission process on the website. Most importantly the candidates must get a valid Joint Entrance Examination  Advanced (JEE-Advanced) score in order to be admitted to B.Tech programs and Dual Degrees, also for the B.Des degrees the students have to qualify for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED). While the admission criteria and eligibility differ from course to course, all students must have passed their 10+2 school leaving test from a recognized board of secondary education. Primarily, admission to IIT, Delhi takes place on the merit obtained in the aforesaid exams.

IIT Delhi also offers postgraduate degrees like M.Tech, M.Sc (Research), MBA, and PhD with an exciting set of specializations. A candidate seeking admission for a postgraduate degree should be graduated from a recognized university. For M.Tech. programs, admission is made through the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), for M.Des. programs through the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED), for M.B.A. programs through the Common Admission Test (CAT), and for M.Sc. programs through the Joint Admission Test (JAM)

Placements

Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi has a strong track record for job placement, with some of the biggest and most recognisable companies conducting hiring drives annually. A Training and Placement Team develops and oversees the IIT Delhi placement process, which includes the institute's recruitment push. By increasing students' skills, the Office of Career Services (OCS) facilitates placement and assists students in finding career possibilities. IIT Delhi Placement cell hosts a range of expert talks, workshops, seminars, etc. that aid students in honing their skills, meeting corporate standards, and landing jobs at prestigious businesses. Companies are invited to participate in the recruitment campaign by the Institutes Training and Placement Team for on-campus hiring. The process for the IIT Delhi Placement includes providing the students with the professional training they will need to be placed. Candidates who are interested in the training must sign up before hand. The Training and Placement Team will provide training sessions for these individuals. Members of the IIT Delhi faculty and student body make up the Training and Placement Team.



Scholarships

There are many scholarships which can be availed by the students of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi like "Alumni Relations Scholarships", which is provided by many alumni, corporates and philanthropists who have initiated scholarships at IIT Delhi to support students with limited means. There are also student support scholarships for meritorious students to provide academic encouragement. For 10% of undergraduate students who belongs to economically backward section, are offered a tution waiver.
