Admission Procedure
Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad’s admissions are conducted online. To apply for their undergraduate degrees, candidates must meet all the required eligibility requirements of the course for which they are applying for. The candidate has to go through the online admission process on the website. Most importantly the candidates must get a valid Joint Entrance Examination-Advanced (JEE-Advanced) score in order to be admitted to Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) programmes and Bachelor of Technology-Master of Technology (B.Tech-M.Tech) Dual Degrees. While the admission criteria and eligibility differ from course to course, all students must have passed their 10+2 school leaving test from a recognised board of secondary education. Primarily admission to IIT Dhanbad takes place on the merit obtained in the aforesaid exams.
IIT Dhanbad also offer Master of Technology (M.Tech), Master of Science (M.Sc), M.Sc (Tech), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Business Administration - Executive MBA (EX), Master of Arts (M.A), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes. Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in engineering or technology, or an equivalent degree, to be eligible for all postgraduate courses. Admission to the M.Tech programme is determined by a valid Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) score, and admission to the M.Sc. and M.Sc (Tech) programme is determined by the Joint Admission test for Masters (JAM) qualification. For MBA admission, every applicant must have a valid Common Admission Test (CAT) score. PhD admissions for various specializations are based on University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) and Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Candidates applying for PhD in the area of Management need to qualify Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) and Common Admission Test (CAT) exams.

Placements
There is a Training and Placement Cell (TPC) at Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad. Companies are invited by the TPC to participate in campus placements. Companies which are interested in participating in the recruiting process for the IIT Dhanbad placement must download and submit the Job Notification Form (JNF) and Internship Notification Form (INF). Scholarships
Undergraduate students at the Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad are eligible for a variety of scholarships. IIT Dhanbad students are heavily encouraged to submit applications for these scholarships. From the undergraduate students 25% are eligible for Merit-cum-Means scholarship and 10% are eligible for freeship, there are instituition-based scholarships, awards, endowments available for the students too.
