Eligibility Criteria for BITSAT 2024

Candidates applying for the BITSAT 2024 must qualify for the criteria of eligibility given below:

  • Candidates for admission to all Integrated First-Degree Programmes except B. Pharm. must have passed the 12th class examination of the 10+2 system from a recognised Central or State board or its equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, as well as adequate English proficiency.

  • Candidates for B. Pharm. must have passed the 12th examination of the 10+2 system from a recognised Central or State board or its equivalent, with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Mathematics and adequate English proficiency.

  • The candidate must have obtained a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (if he/she took Mathematics in BITSAT) or a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (if he/she took Biology in BITSAT) in the 12th class examination, with at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics / Biology subjects.

  • Students who passed their 12th grade in 2021 or earlier are NOT eligible to take BITSAT 2024. Students who are currently enrolled in BITS at any of its campuses are ineligible to take BITSAT-2024.

  • Admissions will be made solely based on merit. The candidate's merit position for admission will be determined by the score obtained in the BITSAT-2024. However, their admission is conditional on meeting the above-mentioned minimum mark requirement in the 12th grade. For admission, the Institute only considers the most recent performance in a public examination.

  • If the results of the most recent examination are not available by the deadline for application submission, the candidate will be disqualified, even if he or she has previous performances in the 12th class or its equivalent or any higher examination.

  • If a candidate has taken more than one attempt in the 12th class or its equivalent, only his most recent performance is taken into account, provided that this attempt included the entire component of subjects/courses prescribed.

  • Direct admission to board toppers has contributed significantly by bringing in highly talented students from across India. Continuing this tradition, the Institute will offer direct admission to first-year students from all central and state boards to the programme of their choice based on the eligibility criteria listed above regardless of their BITSAT-2022 score. While the first-placed student in the PCM stream will be considered for admission to any of the first-degree programmes of his or her choice, the first-placed student in the PCB stream will only be considered for admission to the B. Pharm. Programme.

  • He/she should have achieved the highest overall percentage of marks in the 12th grade among all pupils who took Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology from the Board in 2023. To calculate the aggregate percentage, the marks from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and/or Biology subjects, as well as other subjects required to pass the 12th class examination from the Board under consideration, should be added together. Furthermore, regardless of whether the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology subject marks are labelled as main/optional/elective on their mark sheet, the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology subject marks should be included in the aggregate.

  • Documentary proof in support of a topper's claim should be attached, along with the 10th mark sheet, 12th mark sheet, a letter from the Board declaring the candidate as the topper in the specified stream in the 12th-grade examination, a document related to extracurricular activities, and so on.

  • The information given by the relevant Board will always serve as the Institute's main source of guidance. If the data available before the deadline for a specific board is insufficient or inconclusive, the admission committee may decide not to make any offer under the scheme for that specific Board. In all such cases, the Vice-decision Chancellor's will be final and binding on the applicants.
