Sonam Kapoor’s Cannes 2018 outing has been a mixed bag. Here’s what we liked
Completing eight years at Cannes Film Festival as L’Oreal Paris brand ambassador, Sonam Kapoor’s first red-carpet appearance this time was in a Ralph & Russo ivory number that had a lehnga hangover. The two-piece outfit is pretty but the dark kohled eyes, pale pink lips and the centre-parted braided hair with a hair ornament from Amrapali (below) had more shaadi feels than red-carpet vibes.
What we love: The princess-y outfit and the detailing on it.
We know Sonam loves oversized clothing, and for one of her off-the-red-carpet looks, she did casual chic like a boss in a white Simone Rocha shirt and denims from hubby Anand Ahuja’s label, Bhane.
Ox-blood lips and golden hoops rounded off the look.
What we love: The classic combo done so casually, which is such a refreshing break from her heavily embroidered outfits. Sonam must be loving it too!
Trails are big this season and Sonam did the trend her way in a cute Vera Wang tulle gown. It had a half yellow-half nude train with ruffles bunched up into a bouquet at the back.
What we love: The simplicity and minimal factor in the whole look — the gown, accessories, hair and pop yellow on the eyes with L’Oreal Gold Eyeshadow Palette. Red carpet always doesn’t have to be overtly dramatic.
Sonam’s Emilia Wickstead striped dress reminded us of red-and-white spiral candy sticks! Buttoned up with full sleeves and an adjustable broad belt, the dress has front as well as side pockets.
What we love: The dainty lace collar, the classy pearl eartops and the Bottega Veneta shades that have so much swag.
Sonam looked gorgeous and a lot like herself in this Delpozo couture dress with floral embroidered patches and tulle sleeves in mint green, accessorised with a Jimmy Choo clutch.
What we love: The stunning de Grisogono emerald earrings, her pop coral lips and perfectly contoured highlighted cheeks.
Giving the staple reds a miss, it was a mauve sari with crystal embellishment that Sonam chose for one of her post-wedding ceremonies. Big ups for the off-shoulder Bishop-sleeve lace blouse that highlighted her customised mangalsutra (it has her and Anand’s zodiac sign logos) and the pretty chaandbalis.
Sonam opted for a Masaba mint green soft Chanderi sari with a lotus print, which she wore with a balloon-sleeved blouse. With soft, loose curls and minimal jewellery, Sonam looked every bit a new modern bride.
