Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai (TISS) is sited on an expansive campus spanning an area of 21 acres in Chembur, Mumbai, Maharashtra.
TISS Mumbai campus is wi-fi-enabled and houses excellent academic and extra-curricular facilities to ensure a well-rounded and holistic educational experience for students.
TISS Mumbai houses spacious and well-equipped classrooms and seminar halls. There is a spacious auditorium on campus for hosting various academic and cultural events conducted throughout the year.
There are state-of-the-art computer laboratories at TISS Mumbai that are equipped with top-notch updated computer features. There is a well-stocked library at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai housing a collection of 1,24,000 volumes of books. Besides an extensive roster of books, the library also offers access to 1600 audio-visual materials and subscriptions to over 10,298 scholarly print e-journals.
TISS Mumbai is a residential campus and hosts six hostels with an accommodation capacity of approximately 500 students. There is a hygienic cafeteria on campus catering to the nutritional needs of students. The cafeteria serves both non-vegetarian and vegetarian meals. Packed lunch facilities are available on request on fieldwork days.
There are two health centres on the main campus of TISS Mumbai, equipped with recovery rooms to cure the students of communicable diseases which require isolation. Students may remain in the health centre until the completion of their treatment. Students recovering from surgeries are also kept in the recovery rooms till they are fit to shift to their hostel room. There is a counselling centre at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai providing services like developmental group activities and individual counselling for students and staff members. The counselling centre is open six days a week according to the timings of the students. Workshops are often held to increase the capacities of students.
Sports facilities at TISS Mumbai include a full-fledged indoor badminton court, a basketball court, and a volleyball court. There is a well-equipped indoor gymnasium in a two-storey building with a yoga space and the latest equipment. Gym training is conducted under the supervision of trained instructors. The gym offers access to three electronic and one manual treadmill, two cycles, leg extension/curl machines, chest press machine, lateral pull-down machines, low and high rows pulleys, pack deck, dumbbells, and plates.
There is a recreation room, two table tennis boards, and an indoor games facility for games like carrom.
