Swami Vivekananda Institute of Science and Technology, Kolkata (SVIST Kolkata) was established in 2008 under a non-profit trust.
The goal of SVIST Kolkata is to provide quality education to students at par with the global scenario and to reinforce in them the sense of responsibility and the confidence to counter the challenges in their professional and personal lives.
SVIST Kolkata is a private institute affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) and the West Bengal State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development (WBSCTE). SVIST Kolkata is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The teaching faculties as well as the non-teaching faculties are dedicated to the improvement of the students by providing them with world-class education as well as necessary feedback.
SVIST Kolkata provides a range of degrees at the undergraduate level. They include a 4 years Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering as well as a 3-year Polytechnic degree in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering.
Admission to SVIST Kolkata is merit-based. The candidates seeking admission must pass their 10+2 board examinations from a recognized Board or Council in India. The candidates also need to appear for and qualify JEE-Mains to ensure admission in the SVIST Kolkata. There is a dedicated Training and Placement Cell in the SVIST Kolkata to facilitate and assist the students of final year and pre-final year in their training/internships and placements. The SVIST Kolkata has a digital library as well as a book bank from which the students can avail books, publications, journals, etc. both on the national as well as international levels. SVIST Kolkata is equipped with laboratories housing cutting-edge technologies. The air-conditioned auditorium has a seating capacity of 400 and is fully furnished. Other facilities include a cafeteria serving healthy food at subsidized rates, facilities for outdoor sports like crickets, football, hockey, etc. as well as indoor games and a medical team who are always ready to serve the students and faculty members.

Admission Procedure
Admission to Swami Vivekananda Institute of Science and Technology, Kolkata is done online and the students are to fill up the admission form that the college provides on its website. Institute offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and diploma courses under the Department of Engineering. For undergraduate course, admission students are to qualify for their Higher Secondary Examination from a recognized board and to qualify for the JEE-Mains. The admission is merit-based.
Candidates for the postgraduate course (MBA) admission must hold a bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited institution. And the candidate must also qualify for the Joint Entrance Management Aptitude Test (JEMAT) entrance examination conducted by MAKAUT University.
