St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi (SXC Ranchi) is a private autonomous college that was established in 1944 and run by the Ranchi Jesuit Province of the Society of Jesus. SXC Ranchi, is registered by the Ranchi Province under the local title 'Xavier's Ranchi' under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. It has been approved by the UGC.

SXC Ranchi offers undergraduate degrees across disciplines in courses such as English, Hindi, History, Economics, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Geology, Statistics, Commerce, English, Journalism and Mass Communication, Animation and Interior Design, Biotechnology, Information Technology, Computer Application, Building Construction Management, Fashion Technology, Business, and Financial Market Operation. Admissions are purely based on academic merit and an entrance test. Applicants can fill out an online form along with their academic details then apply for a course-specific entrance examination set by SXC Ranchi. In order to be eligible for admission, applicants must have successfully completed a 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognised board. The faculty at SXC Ranchi is formed of well-qualified academics who have inculcated innovative methods to prepare students in an all-round industry-ready way. There are several prizes, awards and scholarships provided on the basis of need and merit both. The library at the SXC Ranchi campus is one of the oldest college libraries of the city. The library holds around 1,67,000 books and over a hundreds of national and international periodicals, the digital library provides access to databases such as OPAC, INFLIBNET-NLIST, Indian Academy of Sciences, Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), National Digital Library of India, Sage E-Books etc. The campus also features a gym which students and staff can avail with a membership, course-specific labs such as Physics Lab, Chemistry Lab, Computer Science lab, Botany lab, Biotechnology lab, and Language lab, a cafeteria which is open from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM, spacious classrooms, auditoriums, conference and seminar rooms. The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled. SXC Ranchi provides hostel facilities only for boys with double and triple seater rooms accompanied by a mess facility that provides hygienic and affordable meals, a common room and indoor games facilities.

Admission Procedure

The St. Xavier's College, Ranchi’s admissions are conducted online. To apply for their undergraduate degrees like B.Sc, B.A, B.B.A, B.Voc, B.Com, B.R.M, and B.F.M.O, candidates must meet all the required eligibility requirements of the course for which the candidate is applying. The candidate has to go through the online admission portal on the website where they have to register themselves, fill out the application form, upload the required documents and have to submit the application form there for the course for which the candidate is applying. Apart from that, all students need to pass their 10+2 school leaving test from a recognised board of secondary education. SXC Ranchi is a co-ed college, therefore anybody of any gender can apply for the courses in this college. 

SXC Ranchi also provides a postgraduate degree ( M.A / M.SC / M.J.M.C) with various specializations. Interested candidates can apply through their official website. To apply for their degree candidate must qualify for an entrance examination conducted by the institute. Final admission is based on personal interview and merit basis.
