Ravenshaw University (RU Cuttack), is a state university established in 1868 and located in Cuttack, Odisha. It is one of the oldest institutions in the nation and is of historical relevance to the state of Odisha. RU Cuttack is made up of 9 schools, and 36 departments and enrols approximately 8000 students every year. The institute's motto is Jnanameva Shakti or Knowledge is Power and its mission is to preserve a “temple of learning” for students from all walks of life, making their institution diverse and accessible. RU Cuttack is UGC-approved.
Ravenshaw University and its different schools offer 36 courses across all disciplines of Humanities, Science, Commerce and Linguistics. Some of the courses are Psychology, Journalism, Sociology, Political Science, Philosophy, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, Information Technology Management, Business Administration, Economics, Botany, Zoology, Sanskrit, English, Odia, and more. The placement procedure at RU Cuttack is handled by the Training and Placement (T&P) Cell. The Cell has all the necessary amenities to conduct placement interviews, group discussions, campus fairs, pre-placement talks, and pre-requisite industrial training. The Cell assists students in obtaining on-campus placements in various companies and arranges for them to participate in off-campus drives hosted by various universities/industries. Some of the top recruiters are TCS, Cognizant, Capgemini, Accenture, ICICI Bank and many more.
RU Cuttack's Kanika Library is Odisha's oldest and largest library. Kanika Library already has over one lakh sixty thousand study resources, with about a lakh books available through e-granthalaya and e-shodhsindhu which provides access to UGC's Inflibnet journals. The Ravenshaw Knowledge Center (RKC) provides innovative services such as the Ravenshaw Knowledge Portal, the Internet-cum-Digital Library, the Online Reading Room, the UGC INFLIB Network, the National Knowledge Network, and subscriptions to subject databases, online journals, and e-resources. Additionally, there is a Music Library named after famed Odiya singer and lyricist Akshaya Mohanty and a Braille reading system with sophisticated scanner and printer facilities. The institute provides residential facilities for boys and girls in 13 hostels (7 for boys and 6 for girls). Around 3,500 students or around 40% of the total student body are provided accommodation. Admission to the hostels will be based solely on the Department-by-Department merit list for each program and a few seats are reserved for SC/ST students and those with disabilities. The campus contains a multipurpose playground that can be used to hold national events and sporting events. Within its grounds, the University provides a variety of indoor and outdoor sporting facilities such as lawn tennis, cricket, basketball, badminton, and chess. RU Cuttack offers a well-equipped Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF) open to research scholars and faculty members as well. For experimental settings, the CIF is also open to outside academic institutions, universities, and enterprises. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled and contains a cafeteria with hygienic and affordable meals, smart classrooms, a multi-purpose auditorium, a well-equipped gym and a health centre for students and staff's medical needs.

Admission Procedure
Ravenshaw University offers B.A, B.Sc, B.B.A, B.Sc+B.Ed, B.A+B.Ed, BJMC, B.Com degree on several specializations and admits students based on their academic performance in qualifying exams and the results of several entrance exams. Admission to PG courses is based on the results of the RU Cuttack's entrance exams. Admission to all undergraduate specializations is based on merit.
RU Cuttack also provides postgraduate MBA / M.COM / MCA / M.Sc degree course with various specializations. Interested candidates can apply through their official website. For a post-graduate degree candidates must complete a bachelor's degree with 50% from a recognized University.
For a P.hD. degree candidate must also qualify Research Eligibility Test, (RET) with a minimum 50% score. Final admission is based on Personal interviews and merit-based.

Industrial training, which is an important aspect of engineering education, is included in the curriculum.
