Ramakrishna Mission Residential College (RKMRC), Kolkata is a private autonomous institute offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Narendrapur, Kolkata, West Bengal. RKMRC Kolkata functions under its parent organisation, the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, which was set up by the Ramakrishna Order’s monks in 1943 in Pathuriaghata and later shifted to Narendrapur in 1957. RKMRC Kolkata was instituted on the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama campus at Narendrapur in 1960. The college was initially affiliated with the University of Calcutta, later acquiring autonomous status in 2008.

RKMRC Kolkata is situated on a sprawling 181-acre campus housing amenities such as e-classrooms equipped with ICT facilities, cutting-edge laboratories, seminar halls, an auditorium, a well-equipped library, residential facilities, dining halls, a hospital and medical consultancy room, and sports facilities for various indoor and outdoor games. RKMRC Kolkata offers undergraduate programmes BA and BSc, postgraduate programmes MA and MSc, and PhD research programmes across various subject selections in the arts and sciences. Candidates may apply through online forms and are admitted to undergraduate courses via written exams and/or an interview. The online forms are distributed right away following the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education's publishing of the higher secondary results. Candidates from other boards are also eligible for admission to RKMRC Kolkata. The admission test is usually administered within 30 days of the WBCHSE H.S. findings being published.

RKMRC Kolkata's faculty has always been one of its strengths. In addition to being outstanding at their jobs, the professors are constantly available to answer any questions posed by students, both within and outside of class. They also keep a close eye on each student's academic development. All departments have implemented a mentor-mentee system. Every alumnus of RKMRC Kolkata has admired them for their commitment and friendliness. The institution is proud of its high teacher-to-student ratio of 1:13, which is another area of strength. Additionally, there are approximately 50 guest professors and 10 State-aided college teachers. Meritorious students from low-income backgrounds are awarded concessions on their aggregated monthly tuition. These students can only request these concessions during the time of admission. Scholarships are awarded based on the candidate’s test results and hostel evaluations. The late Professor Nirendranath Biswas gave INR 1 crore to support 100 students; several other benevolent individuals have also contributed to the scholarship fund. Special scholarships given by the institute include Swami Lokeswarananda Award and Scholarships and the Late Debendranath Biswas and Sailabala Biswas scholarships.

RKMRC Kolkata has an active placement cell which encourages a significant number of companies to participate in the recruiting process every year. Companies including Tata Consultancy Services, HSBC, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Byjus, Spica Systems, and Planet Spark hire several students from RKMRC Kolkata. The college is also connected to the UGC-AICT-authorized Internshala program. This project seeks to provide students with applicable skills and real-world experience through internships and online training. This provides beneficial opportunities for students of the institution to gain industry-specific internship experience and eventually strengthens them for future employment. RKMRC Kolkata also hosts a plethora of extra-academic activities and cultural events such as debates, drama, singing, and recitiation. A biennial magazine titled ABHIH is published by RKMRC Kolkata which functions as a platform of self-expression for students and teachers alike.

Admission Procedure

Through a written exam and/or an interview, students get admitted to undergraduate courses at Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Kolkata. Online application forms are accessible.
