Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Chennai, on the Chennai–Bangalore national highway, in a peaceful setting, spread out across a vast area of approximately 50 acres, is perfect and suited for quiet and active learning toward a promising future. Leading multinational corporations (MNCs), like Hyundai Motors, Saint Gobain, and others, as well as the SIPCOT industrial park, supported by the Tamil Nadu government and housing many firms, are situated close to the campus, giving aspiring technocrats the ideal industrial environment.
A total of more than 8 lakh square feet of REC Chennai is set up to house all the classrooms, drawing halls, laboratories, workshops, tech lounge hosting more than 700 computers, administrative block, and reception. In the Academic Science Block, a computer facility with 120 computers is also provided, housing all the first-year students. Around 52,600 volumes of textbooks, reference books, and national and international journals in every area of engineering, science, technology, management, and general studies are currently housed in the library, and the collection is constantly growing. The Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme is used to categorize the books.
The library uses an open-access policy. The library subscribes to 5943 journals, including 5713 international journals, 230 national journals, and 5702 electronic journals. Students interested in computer-assisted learning can access online resources from the Digital Library. Video programs can be viewed in the library's Audio Visual Section.
REC Chennai's activities include sports and games, and it consistently does well in intercollegiate competitions and sporting events. A new Futsal football court has been built in addition to the courts and fields for all of the normal games and sporting events to encourage players who are interested in this game to develop their ball-handling abilities. The campus contains 6000 square feet of indoor space for chess, carom, table tennis, badminton, and volleyball, as well as outdoor space for this sports and ball badminton. To instruct the students in physical education, we have two certified instructors.
The Health Center of REC Chennai has an inpatient facility that offers free medical care to all of the faculty, employees, and students. There are 200 girls and 500 boys in the hostel. The final year and graduate students are provided single rooms to live in. The mess has a large eating room and kitchen. Staff and students can enjoy clean, vegetarian cuisine at the cafeteria. There is a boys' mess that is funded. There is a distinct transportation division with a fleet of 115 buses, including 24 non-AC buses and 91 AC buses, that travel around Chennai and surrounding regions. Students are not charged for transportation or lunch.
The hostels for boys and girls both have gym facilities.
