Osmania University, Hyderabad (OU) offers a variety of infrastructural facilities to its students. OU, Hyderabad’s library covers a floor area of 62,000 sq ft and has a vast collection of resources and reading materials that are accessible to the students. These resources include about 500,000 books and over 6000 manuscripts which also include rare palm leaf manuscripts. OU Hyderabad is subscribed to more than 400 periodicals and learned journals in different subjects. The total capacity of the library is about 58,000 bound volumes of journals, 272 files, 6428 manuscripts, 3858 Government documents, 9 CD ROMS, and 143 microfilms. OU, Hyderabad also consists of a digital library that has a collection of e-books, e-journals, and other useful resources.
Osmania University, Hyderabad (OU) has medical facilities on its main campus. The OU Hyderabad health centre which is headed by a Chief medical officer who is assisted by a team of experienced and competent doctors, provide free medical treatments to students, staff, and their family members. Banking requirements are also fulfilled by the University since it houses a branch of The State Bank of India at the Arts College building. OU Hyderabad organises many cultural and academic events, and national and international seminars and lectures with imminent speakers, all of which are held at the Tagore Auditorium. This auditorium also hosts the annual Graduation ceremony. The Law College campus of OU, Hyderabad has a moot court for practicing and training future lawyers.
Osmania University, Hyderabad (OU)’s Physical education department provides the students with the facilities needed for outdoor sports and within the premises of the university campus, the Arts College of OU Hyderabad has been arranging multiple indoor sports such as Chess, Badminton, Table Tennis, Carrom. The Faculty Club of OU Hyderabad has been responsible for arranging cultural activities. Nearby this faculty club is the University’s swimming pool. The College of Engineering at OU Hyderabad has a gym for its students. OU Hyderabad provides its students with nine National Laboratories for research purposes in the field of Science and Technology, and Arts and Social Science. All the colleges, departments, centres and hostels have 24/7 wifi and internet facilities. The Office of Infrastructure is responsible for ensuring the 24/7 availability of internet and wifi facilities. OU Hyderabad has hospital facilities for its students, and presently 22 hostels and 15 messes are operating under the control of the principals of the concerned colleges.
