Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital (NRSMC&H), located in Kolkata, was established in 1873 in order to treat the poor and vagabond natives during the rule of the British colony. Presently, NRSMC&H has emerged as one of the best healthcare hubs in the country. NRSMC&H is a government institute, which is affiliated to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences and has been approved by the Medical Council of India (MIC). NRSMC&H is a co-ed institute that offers a five-year MBBS degree and a four-year B.Sc Nursing degree. Admission to NRSMC&H is conducted online. Students must meet eligibility criteria for the individual degree they are applying for. Besides, admission to MBBS is determined by the rank attained in the national-level entrance exam, National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET-UG). All students must have passed their 10+2 school leaving test from a recognised board of secondary education. Besides, pupils are provided with a range of scholarship schemes and financial aid. During their internship period, students are given stipends as well.
During the tenure of undergraduate course, students are offered internships at the medical college. They get an opportunity to receive the highest quality training and guidance through internships and research.

Admission Procedure
Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College & Hospital’s admissions are conducted through online counselling. To apply for their undergraduate degrees - MBBS, and B.Sc in Nursing, candidates must meet all the required eligibility requirements of the course for which they candidate is applying. The candidate has to go through the admission counselling process for the NEET-UG-qualified candidates. While the admission criteria and eligibility differ from course to course, all students must have passed their 10+2 school leaving test from a recognised board of secondary education. Most importantly admission takes place when the candidate has a valid score on the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET). The admission depends purely on merit basis.
Candidates must meet all eligibility requirements for the course for which they are applying in order to apply for their postgraduate program and super speciality program, including DM, MS, MD, M.ch, and M.Sc in Nursing. All the postgraduate admissions are through National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) examinations and the super speciality program admission is also through National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET).
