Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT Kolkata) which is located in Kolkata laid its foundation stone in the year 2001. It has become a center of excellence in the fields of technology and management. Being an autonomous university, MAKAUT Kolkata has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the University Grants Commission (UGC).

MAKAUT Kolkata is a co-ed university that offers various undergraduate courses like B.Sc in IT (Cyber Security), IT (Data Science), IT (Internet of Things), Materials Science, Mathematics and Computing, Multimedia Science, Augmented & Virtual Reality, Multimedia, Animation & Graphic Design, Robotics & 3D Printing; B. Tech in Information Technology; BBA; BBA in Business Analytics, Hospital Management, Risk Management, Tourism and Travel Management, and Computer Science and Engineering. Students seeking admission to B. Tech have to appear for the entrance exam WBJEE. Apart from this, students willing to take admission to B.Sc., BBA and BCA courses must have passed 10+2 board exams with General or Vocational Stream from any recognised Board. The admission process totally depends on merit.

Students are provided with a range of scholarship schemes which include Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship, Kanyashree scholarship and many others under the National Scholarship Portal.

Admission Procedure

The Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology Kolkata has an admissions process where candidates (co-ed) applying for UG courses in B.Tech are required to pass the entrance exam West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEE), and for other courses like B.Sc, BBA, and BCA the candidates are required to pass in 10+2 with General or Vocational Stream from any recognised Board with pass marks in each of the main subjects to apply for the Common Entrance exam of the university through the official website. Following that, candidates can access the relevant courses by registering on the website with a valid email address, which will produce login credentials through which candidates can log in for further admission information

MAKAUT Kolkata also offers a postgraduate degrees in M.Tech, M.Sc, MBA, MCA, M.Pharm and PhD. A valid score in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) or Postgraduate Entrance Test (PGET) grades is used to determine admission to the MTech. programme. Candidates must take the West Bengal Joint Examination for Masters in Computer Applications (WB JECA) entrance test in order to be admitted to the MCA programme. For the MBA course, applicants must take the West Bengal Joint Entrance Management Aptitude Test (WB JEMAT) entrance exam. Admission to the MBA programme is determined by the candidates' scores in the JEMAT entrance exam administered by MAKAUT Kolkata. Based on the university's merit lists created using the candidates' qualifying examination results, candidates are chosen for the postgraduate diploma.
