Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering, Kochi (KMSME) is the only Marine Engineering Training Institute in India, under the direct control of a State Government University; Cochin University of Science and Technology. KMSME initiated its journey with a vision of rearing and raising eminent seafarers moulded as per the needs and demands of the ever-growing field of the shipping industry.

KMSME offers one undergraduate and one postgraduate program with B.Tech and M. Tech. degree respectively in Marine Engineering. Established at the bosom of the Cochin University Campus, KMSME has an annual intake capacity of 80 students, selected as per the scorecard and guidelines of the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Indian Maritime University (IMU). M. Tech. The program is of 18 intake capacity. Applicants of KMSME are to register with CUSAT. In addition to the B.Tech Degree Course, KMSME also conducts both operational and management-level DG-approved courses on Engine Room Simulators.

The faculties are chosen from all over the country and take major roles in shaping the students into eminent professionals in the field of Marine Engineering and Shipping.

Admission Procedure

 

Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering, Kochi follows an online method of admission. Admission to KMSME is mainly based on the eligibility criteria and on the merit of the students. KMSME offers Undergraduate (UG) and Post Graduate (PG) courses under the faculty of Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Marine Engineering and Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Marine Engineering respectively. UG applicants to KMSME must have passed Higher Secondary Examination from any recognized board with 60% aggregate marks in the respective subjects.

The Head of the Departments and professors engage themselves with the students in the practical and theoretical analysis of the study, in order to help the students in learning, gathering knowledge, and developing in the study of Marine Engineering.
