The Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati campus is regarded as one of India's most beautiful and scenic campuses. The 74000 sq. metre IIT Guwahati academic complex, houses academic departments, centres, laboratories, classrooms, and other facilities. The institute's offices are situated in a large administrative building.
IIT Guwahati provides a wide range of amenities for its students. They offer the best infrastructural facilities for their students, from academic resources to sports facilities. The institution has a very robust and high-speed infrastructure that provides students with a comfortable environment. The central library called The Lakshminath Bezbaroa Central Library has 1.83 lakhs of printed books and bound volumes of journals for the sciences, engineering, technology, humanities and social sciences subjects. The Digital Library has more than 2.10+ lakhs of e-books. About 26,300 online and print journals (of which access to 8,834 journals has been provided by the ‘e-ShodhSindhu Consortium’ and the ‘DeLCON: DBT- Electronic Library Consortium’).
IIT Guwahati campus has a number of well-equipped and furnished departmental laboratories. The classrooms are air-conditioned, spacious and well-equipped. The campus also houses auditoriums and seminar halls. There are individual hostel rooms available for each student at IIT Guwahati. There are two girls' hostels and 11 boys' hostels located on the campus, each with its own mess hall.
The IIT Guwahati campus has a football ground, badminton court, 8 Lane, 50 meters swimming pool, a running track and a variety of options for indoor sports as well as a Recreation Room. The campus also has an indoor gymnasium with state-of-the-art equipment. A free intra-campus bus facility, operating on a fixed schedule is available for the students. The students can also avail of bus services to and from the main city at regular intervals. A food court in the IIT Guwahati campus houses outlets from brands like Subway, Baskin Robbins, Café Coffee Day and other local establishments.
The campus also has a canteen, shops as well as a small market. IIT Guwahati has robust medical facilities for its students and staff members. There is a hospital on campus with six full-time medical officers as well as various visiting consultants. The hospital has an Emergency Room, Minor OT room, ECG Room, ten patient cabins, two isolation cabins and two general wards. The hospital also has 24 hours Doctor, Nursing and Pharmacy services for its patients provided by outsourced hospital services providers as well as two ambulances.
