Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management of Science (GITAM Visakhapatnam) was set up in the year 1980 by an inspired group of eminent intellectuals and industrialists of Andhra Pradesh led by the former Member of Parliament and popular philanthropist, Dr M. V. V. S. Murthi. GITAM is located in Visakhapatnam and puts stress on various emerging parts of science.

The esteemed institution of GITAM Visakhapatnam has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Students are taught by professional and experienced faculty members from various streams to complete their courses with full knowledge and view. GITAM Visakhapatnam offers undergraduate courses such as B.Sc in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Food Science and Technology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Computer Science with Cognitive Systems, Mathematics, Physics, Environmental Science, Electronics, Food Technology, Statistics and there are Postgraduate courses also available like M.Sc in Applied Mathematics, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Data Science, Electronics, Microbiology.

To be eligible to take admission to GITAM Visakhapatnam students are required to clear their 10+2 school leaving examination mandatorily. To get admission to GSS, the candidates have to give a computer-based online test named GITAM Admission Test (GAT). The students need to apply for the GAT at the official website of GITAM of Science. The meritorious students get the benefit of scholarship programs by GSS such as Need-Based Scholarship, Merit Scholarships and government-oriented scholarships like PMSS.

Admission Procedure

The GITAM School of Science conducts an entrance exam GITAM Admission Test (GAT), a computer-based online test administered in various cities across India, is required for admission to GITAM Visakhapatnam. Candidates (co-ed) who have excelled in the GATE, JEE, TS EAMCET, or AP EAMCET exams are eligible to apply for the courses of Mathematics, Biochemistry and Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Environment Science, Physics, Microbiology and FST(Food Science and Technology). GITAM Admission Test (GAT) is used by the GITAM Visakhapatnam to admit students to various degrees.

GITAM Visakhapatnam offer Postgraduate and PhD courses in various disciplines. A candidate seeking admission to a Postgraduate course must hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 55% marks from an accredited university.
