Gauhati University, Guwahati (GU, Guwahati) is a public state university in Guwahati, Assam, India. It was established on January 26, 1948, by an Act passed by the Assam Legislative Assembly. It is Northeast India's oldest university.

Gauhati University's Pre Examination Training Centre (PETC) is critical in shaping students' career paths. The cell consistently provides continuous learning to enhance professional competencies by instilling professional values and work ethics, as well as personality development and communication skill grooming sessions. Furthermore, training is provided to instil and improve analytical skills, which are critical for making key strategic decisions, to instil a work-life attitude in individuals, and to convert theoretical knowledge into professional values. Various industry expert interaction programmes are held in order to bring the industry together. Group discussion practises, mock interview sessions, and resume building workshops are all part of the training sessions to help students shape and enrich their careers in meaningful ways. The PETC regularly conducts training sessions and workshops for competitive examinations.
