The Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI), situated in Chandigarh, was formed with the objective of offering education and supporting the Indian industry by eliminating the talent gap in the domains of footwear, leather accessories, and lifestyle items. The skills and experience of the FDDI faculty inspires students to reach their full potential. To create printed self-educational resources, the faculty works with academics, research and development teams, and practitioners. In addition to their education from Footwear Design and Development Institute and some of the world's leading fashion schools, the lecturers offer professional experience, extensive exposure, and years of real-world expertise to the classroom.

The Footwear Design and Development Institute, an autonomous institute, offers three undergraduate programs and a postgraduate program. All applicants for undergraduate admission must attend counselling after submitting an online application for the FDDI All India Selection Test (FDDI-AIST). Every qualified candidate must pass the written test administered by the FDDI's official authorities. If they match the qualifying criteria, students from all FDDI campuses can apply for scholarships granted by Government (central and state) organisations.

All Footwear Design and Development Institute campuses engage in a centralised campus placement procedure administered by the FDDI, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. The Placement Cell provides mock interviews, group discussions, pre placement trainings and industrial exposure to students at the institute. So far, FDDI has placed every student in a job. From an expansive auditorium, seminar halls, air-conditioned and well-equipped with modern teaching technologies classrooms, high-speed internet on the campus, leather goods and accessories design workshop, fashion design workshop, footwear designing and production workshop rooms, design studio, hi-tech computer lab with 100 computers and more than 10 laser printers, CAD/CAM lab, visual merchandising lab, both traditional and digital libraries to a pocket-friendly cafeteria, and separate, fully-furnished hostels accommodating 60 boys and 200 girls, a recreation room and a sports complex.

Admission Procedure

A variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in design and management, like B.Des, B.B.A and MBA (Retail & Fashion Merchandise)are offered by Footwear Design and Development Institute, Chandigarh. All candidates for undergraduate and postgraduate admissions must submit an online application for the FDDI All India Selection Test (FDDI-AIST), followed by counselling. Each and every qualified applicant would need to pass a test (Paper Based Test) given by FDDI. Only English will be used as the test's medium. A candidate for the postgraduate programme must have a bachelor's degree in any field. All qualified candidates must appear at the examination centres they select for the written entrance examination in the city of their choice. The written admission exam aims to evaluate candidates' knowledge, aptitude, and suitability for the chosen program. 

Faculty

The faculty at Footwear Design and Development Institute, Chandigarh is skilled and experienced, which motivates students to achieve their best potential. In association with Academia, R & D, and practising staff, the faculty creates printed self-educational materials. Through collaboration with the faculty members on diverse real-world projects, students develop their skills and knowledge while learning essential information about design applications and market dynamics. The professors have training from some of the top fashion schools in the world as well as from FDDI, bringing to the classroom their professional skills, extensive exposure, and years of practical experience.

Placements

All Footwear Design and Development Institute campuses participate in a centralised campus placement procedure run by the FDDI, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. The Institute's students receive important career counselling and guidance from the Corporate and Public Relations Department. The Chandigarh campus of FDDI benefits greatly from its strategic location. The close proximity to the most technologically advanced urban and industrial areas enables the students to pursue internships in industrial centres like Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Baddi, and Delhi.



Scholarships

According to the procedures and qualifying requirements, students from all Footwear Design and Development Institute campuses are eligible to apply for scholarships given by government (central and state) agencies. There are no scholarships available from FDDI. FDDI processes and forwards the scholarship applications of the eligible students to the applicable agencies.
