Examination Pattern for NEET (UG) 2024

The duration of the NEET (UG) would be three (03) hours and 20 minutes. The students need to appear for 720 marks examination in total. It is a Pen & Paper-based Test, by which the specially designed machine gradable OMR sheet needs to be answered. The Ball Point Pen will be provided at the Centre. 

It is to be noted with acute consciousness that tampering with the OMR at any stage will lead to debarring of the candidature for 3 years.

The specific question-wise pattern of the examination according to NTA:

  • Section A  consists of 35 questions in each subject, i.e. Question Numbers – 001 to 035, 051 to 085, 101 to 135, and 151 to 185. All questions are compulsory.

  • Section B consisted of 15 questions in each subject, i.e. Question Numbers– 036 to 050, 086 to 100, 136 to 150, and 186 to 200. The candidates need to attempt any 10 questions out of 15 in each subject.

  • The candidates need to carefully look through all 15 questions in Section B before deciding which 10 questions they are sure to answer. Because, if a candidate attempts more than 10 questions, in that case only the first 10 questions answered by the candidate will be evaluated. 

  • Candidates opting for Regional languages would be provided with a Bilingual Test Booklet in selected Regional languages and English.

  • Number of Questions - The students will receive the question paper containing 200 questions (MCQs), out of which 180 have to be answered. 

  • Number of Options - Each question will behold four (4) options. Only one correct answer needs to be fetched out of it. 

  • Marks- 4 marks are awarded for each correct answer. There are risks of Negative Marking, where one (1) mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. 

  • Subject-The question paper is prepared with the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. For Physics and Chemistry sections- it will be caring 180 marks, a total of 45 out of 50 questions to be answered. The Biology section is parted into Zoology and Botany, together comprising the maximum number of questions, a total of 90 questions are asked for 360 marks.
