About NEET (UG) 2024

National Testing Agency (NTA) is the parent portal through which National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) is conducted since 2019. The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, and the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India approve it. The mode of examination of NEET-UG is pen and paper mode to qualify for undergraduate medical courses under the National Medical Commission (NMC). The degrees that can be pursued after qualifying for NEET-UG are Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery [MBBS]/ Bachelor of Dental Surgery [BDS]/ Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery [BAMS]/ Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery [BSMS]/ Bachelor in Unani Medicine and Surgery [BUMS]/ Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery [BHMS]. A major applicant population have the lease to appear in the examination reading vernacular languages like English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

Application Procedure for NEET (UG) 2024

The students need to register for the Online application form through the NTA portal to generate an Application Number and Password so that they can log in directly to the system to complete and filling the necessary details. They need to upload the following scanned documents and images: 

1) Legible recent scanned photograph between 10 kb to 200 kb. 

2) Scanned photographs, signature, and Left and Right-hand Fingers and Thumb impressions. 

3) Scanned copy of the Citizenship certificate/Embassy certificate between  50 kb to 300 kb. 

4) Scanned copy of the Class 10 pass certificate between 50 kb to 300 kb. 

This is to be kept in mind that the medium of instruction in the question paper has to be furnished in the online application form and once mentioned and submitted, it cannot be changed. After carefully filling up the particulars and uploading all the required documents, the applicants must pay the application fee, payable through Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card, UPI, or Paytm Services. Applicants are advised to download and print a copy of the confirmation of the application form.

 

Eligibility NEET (UG) 2024

The applicants have to be 17 years of age at the time of admission or will complete that age on or before 31 December of the year of his/her admission to the first year of the Undergraduate Medical Course. Only those candidates are eligible to seat for NEET (UG), who have appeared or are appearing at the qualifying Examination with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as the main subjects and expect to pass the Examination with the required percentage of marks are also eligible to apply and appear in the Competitive Entrance Examination. However, the candidates will be considered only if they provide evidence of passing the qualifying Examination with the required subjects and percentage of marks in their Higher/Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to class 12 Higher/Senior Secondary Examination after 12 years of study. They must study relevant subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology, Mathematics or any other elective subject in English. The applicants should individually pass all the aforementioned subjects and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks. 

Colleges Accepting Score NEET (UG) 2024

The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) score is accepted across colleges within India. The students who qualify the same may appear for the counselling and get enrolled in their desired medical college according to their AIR scores.  

 

Syllabus for NEET (UG) 2024

The National Medical Commission of India (NMC) recommends a standard structure of the syllabus after reviewing various State syllabi and pan-India patterns contemplated by CBSE, NCERT, and COBSE. Such a method is followed keeping in mind to maintain a sense of equity among the students throughout the country in terms of its preparation and medical concerns. Thus making them eligible to serve appropriate medical problems. Both Class XI and XII course topics of Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology are considered. 

 

Examination Pattern for NEET (UG) 2024

The Test pattern of NEET (UG) - 2022 comprises four Subjects. Each subject will consist of two sections. Section A will consist of 35 Questions and Section B will have 15 Questions, out of these 15 Questions, candidates can choose to attempt any 10 Questions. So, the total number of questions and utilization of time will remain the same. To answer the Pen & Paper-based Test on the specially designed machine gradable OMR sheet the exam-appearing candidates have to use the Ball Point Pen provided at the Centre. Moreover tampering with the OMR at any stage will lead to debarring of the candidature for 3 years. Candidates opting for Regional languages would also be provided with a Bilingual Test Booklet in selected Regional languages and English. Correct answer or the most appropriate answer: Four marks (+4). Any incorrect option marked will be given minus one mark (-1). Unanswered/Marked for Review will be given no mark (0). The duration of the test would be three (03) hours and 20 minutes. 

 

Declaration of Results NEET (UG) 2024

The results of NEET (UG) are declared on an All India Rank [AIR] basis. This year, it was declared on 14 June 2024. The qualifying candidates undergo counselling based on the merit declared. During the counseling, the eligibility criteria, self-declaration, various documents, etc. of the eligible candidates are verified as per norms specified by the respective authorities of Medical and Dental Colleges. Admission to Undergraduate Medical Courses within the respective categories shall be based solely on All India Rank as per the merit list of NEET (UG) - 2024. 

 

Outcomes of NEET (UG) 2024

NEET (UG) has been a qualifying entrance exam since 2020 for admission to the MBBS/BDS courses in AIIMS and JIPMER (although such Medical Institutions are governed under separate Statutes). Counselling for admission to MBBS / BDS, etc. Courses in AIIMS / JIPMER / Central Universities are conducted by the Director General of Health Services (DGHS). Candidates aspiring for admission to MBBS / BDS Courses in such Universities/ Institutions based upon their All India Rank (AIR) in NEET (UG) - 2024, shall have to register on the MCC website after the declaration of NEET (UG) - 2024 Result. 

  • Scores of NEET shall be accepted for female candidates who wish to pursue nursing programmes at AFMS institutes.

  • Candidates qualifying for NEET (UG) – 2024 would be eligible for All India Quota and other quotas under the State Governments/Institutes, irrespective of the medium of the examination, subject to other eligibility criteria. 

  • To be eligible for admission to Undergraduate Medical Courses for a particular academic year in the case of General, General-EWS, it shall be necessary for a candidate to obtain a minimum of marks at the 50th percentile in National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test to Undergraduate Medical Courses held for the said academic year. However, in respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, the minimum marks shall be at the 40th percentile. In respect of candidates with Benchmarks Disabilities, the minimum marks shall be at the 45th percentile for Unreserved Category & GEN-EWS Category candidates and 40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates. The percentile shall be determined based on the highest marks secured in the All India common merit list in the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for admission to Undergraduate Medical Courses.
