About INI-CET for MD, MS, DM (6 yrs), MCh (6 yrs) and MDS, 2024
INI-CET (Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test) is an important medical entrance examination conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi. AIIMS, established in 1956 as an autonomous institution of national importance, awards medical degrees under the All India Institute of Medical Sciences Act and is recognized by the Indian Medical Council Act.
As part of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana, several new All India Institutes of Medical Sciences were established across different locations in India, similar to AIIMS New Delhi. These institutions include AIIMS Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur, Rishikesh, Bibinagar, Bathinda, Deoghar, Mangalagiri, Raebareli, Kalyani, and Bilaspur. These institutes offer various postgraduate courses such as Masters of Surgery (MS), Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master of Dental Surgery (MDS), Doctorate of Medicine (DM), and Master of Chirurgiae (MCh).
The selection process for admission to these postgraduate courses is done through the Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test (INI-CET). The AIIMS New Delhi, in consultation with nodal officers from all the participating institutes, oversees the administration of INI-CET. It is important to note that PGIMER-Chandigarh and SCTIMST-Trivandrum also accept scores of INI-CET.
INI-CET is conducted in a computer-based test format with a duration of 3 hours (180 minutes). The test consists of 200 objective-type questions. Each correct answer is awarded one mark, while an incorrect answer incurs a penalty of minus one-third (-1/3) mark. INI-CET takes place twice a year, with sessions in January and July. The January session's application process begins in August-September of the previous year and concludes in February of the current year. On the other hand, the July session's application process starts in March and concludes in August of the current year.
AIIMS New Delhi takes complete responsibility for all aspects related to the conduct of INI-CET, including the application process, examination, result declaration, and seat allocation for the participating institutes. It serves as the sole authority for handling these aspects of INI-CET.

INI-CET 2024 Outcomes
The Examination Section of AIIMS New Delhi, in collaboration with nodal officers from all INIs, oversees the administration of INI-CET. AIIMS, New Delhi is the exclusive entity responsible for conducting all aspects of the Combined Entrance Test, including result announcements and seat allocation.
AIIMS publishes a merit list based on the performance of candidates in the Online CBT Examination, which identifies the names of candidates who are provisionally eligible for the INI-CET 2024 counselling round. This result is announced solely based on the information provided by candidates in their online application for INI-CET, without undergoing detailed scrutiny of their eligibility, category certificates, sponsorship certificates, etc., as applicable.
All candidates, regardless of whether they have qualified or not, are assigned percentile scores according to their performance in the INI-CET. These scores can be viewed on the "MyPage" section of the AIIMS portal (www.aiimsexams.ac.in) after logging in using the Candidate ID and Password.
