Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani) has been declared as an "Institution of Eminence" by the Ministry of Education, Government of India in 2018. BITS Pilani has campuses in Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad, and Mumbai in India and an Offshore campus in Dubai. Birla Institute of Technology & Science Pilani-Hyderabad Campus (BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus) is one of the campuses set up by BITS Pilani, a  Deemed to be University declared under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956, in 1964 and accredited with an ‘A’ grade by NAAC. The Institute stands as a beacon among India’s premier technical and science Institutes of higher learning. BITS Pilani has been selected, the only private Institute, to establish a Technology Innovation Hub in the field of Bio-CPS with a funding of Rs. 125 crores.  BITS Pilani’s Mission is to advance knowledge and educate students in science, technology, and other areas that will best serve the nation and the world in the 21st century

BITS Pilani established its fourth Campus amidst lush greenery, in the city of Hyderabad on 200 acres of area at Jawahar Nagar, Kapra Mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri District (Telangana) in 2008. The campus is located on the Karimnagar highway and is about 25 km from Secunderabad railway station; 40 km from Hyderabad (Nampally) railway station; and 70 km from Hyderabad Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. The campus features state-of-the-art resources and infrastructure and is a fully residential campus. The campus houses academic buildings, hostels for boys and girls, faculty and staff housing, a state-of-the-art Library, central workshops, a high computing facility, a central animal facility, a microfabrication cleanroom, a technology business incubator, several seminar halls, an auditorium, modern ICT infrastructure. In terms of the overall growth of students a  Student Activity Centre comprising of a Gym, indoor sports facilities, swimming pool, cricket, football, hockey grounds, tennis, volleyball, and basketball courts, have been created which lead to sporting and extracurricular activities through various student clubs. There is a medical center and a shopping center on the campus which cater to the urgent and routine needs of students and campus residents alike. The campus is also served by a branch of the State Bank of India with an ATM facility. Dining halls and varied food outlets serve the campus residents with both standardized and custom menu selections. 

In terms of reducing the carbon footprint and environmental conservation efforts power generation using solar panels, rainwater harvesting, usage of treated and cleaned grey water for toilet flushing and gardening activities, etc. are practiced. The campus also has an active animal welfare team, which takes care of the animals and is very successful in reducing human-animal conflict.

Around 1500 bright minds are admitted every year into first-degree (Undergraduate), higher-degree (Master), and doctoral programs at the Hyderabad Campus.

All the BITS Pilani campuses operate on a fully automated library system with adequate application of RFID technology, interactive library portals, library apps, off-campus access, etc. Creative spaces like BITS Heritage Gallery, GD Birla Rare Books, Research Zone, Ideation/Writing Zone, MakerSpace, 3D Printer, HPC, etc are very popular among students and research scholars.

Like their other BITS campuses, BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus offers Programmes at all three tiers, namely, Integrated First Degree, Higher Degree, and Ph.D. besides dual degree programs. The undergraduate Programmes being offered at the Hyderabad Campus in the Engineering stream are Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, M.Sc. Biological Sciences, M.Sc. Chemistry, M.Sc. Economics, M.Sc. Mathematics and M.Sc. Physics as well as B.Pharm in Pharmacy.

The postgraduate programs offered at Hyderabad Campus are in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering (Specialization in Transportation Engineering), Civil Engineering (Specialization in Structural Engineering), Communication Engineering, Computer Science, Design Engineering, Embedded Systems, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Microelectronics, Environmental Engineering, M.Pham. Pharmaceutics, M.Pharm. Pharmacology, etc.

The doctoral programs are in various aspects of Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, Economics & Finance, Management, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Pharmacy, Physics and M.Pharm.  In addition, students have ample opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary research and be guided by faculty from different core disciplines. To this end, a new center, aptly named as School of Interdisciplinary Research and Entrepreneurship, has been seeded recently.   

Being part of a Deemed-to-be University, all BITS, Pilani campuses follow the same curriculum, teaching methodologies, and educational practices, and BITS Pilani confers all degrees. BITS, Pilani is further renowned for its stellar faculty and the quality of technical education. Students also have access to a well-maintained and updated library, well-equipped laboratories to facilitate research work, air-conditioned smart classrooms, Tele-presence Classrooms,  a spacious auditorium with a seating capacity of 2500, and high-speed internet on campus to aid in this effort. 

BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus conducts a unique computer-based online admission test “BITSAT”. To be eligible at the undergraduate level, candidates with PCM stream have to clear their 10+2 school leaving examinations as well as the online BITSAT entrance test. Admission is granted based on merit and BITSAT scores. BITS, Pilani, across all campuses, has several scholarships and endowments available for deserving students which are awarded on merit-cum-means basis. BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus has experienced faculty members who have PhD degrees from reputed national and international Institutes. The faculty members have exceptional research footprints with excellent pedigrees in academics. Visiting Faculty are routinely invited to the campus. 

BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus organizes a placement process that helps students secure great job placements and attracts giants like Adobe, Amazon, Atlassian, Dell, Deloitte, Oracle, Google (Ireland), Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Nestle, Wipro, and many more. Over the past few years, students have been placed at multinational companies, government organizations, and research institutes across the globe.
