Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute (AECARI), Coimbatore was established in 1972 as a constituent College of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) and the first college in South India to provide a degree in Agricultural Engineering.
The mission of AECARI, Coimbatore is to ensure excellence in quality education and research in agricultural modernization using an astute amalgamation of old and new technology to bring about qualitative changes in the farming sector, while also playing a distinctive and crucial role in the sustainability of the state's intellectual, cultural, and environmental heritage.
AECARI, Coimbatore offers 3 undergraduate (UG), 4 postgraduate (PG), and 4 doctorate (PhD) courses. The UG courses that students can pursue are B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering, Food Technology, and Energy and Environmental Engineering. The UG courses offered are M.Tech in Farm Machine and Power Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Processing and Food Engineering, and Soil and Water Conservation Engineering; while PhD can be pursued in Food Processing Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, and Soil and Water Conservation Engineering. The courses are approved by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and the Institute is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU).
AECARI, Coimbatore offers a top-notch academic and research environment in which faculty and student skill sets are developed and applied to generate new knowledge and technology for the benefit of farmers and entrepreneurs. Teaching and research are mutually supportive at AECARI, Coimbatore and one cannot thrive without the other. Effective outreach programmes hasten technology adoption and expand educational opportunities for practising professionals.

AECARI, Coimbatore strives to provide the best available infrastructure to ensure the holistic development of students. AECARI, Coimbatore Library has a collection of over 200000 printed texts including books, journals, theses, back volumes, etc., as well as a digital section which provides access to a host of e-resources. Students at AECARI, Coimbatore are accommodated in separate hostels for boys and girls. There are 6 boys’ hostels, 4 girls’ hostels, and 1 hostel each for PG students with families, PhD students with families, foreign students, and foreign students with families. Recognising the importance of an active lifestyle, Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Coimbatore, has a large playground with provisions for games such as cricket, tennis, badminton, basketball, volleyball and hockey. AECARI, Coimbatore also has a running track and a fully-equipped indoor gymnasium for the students to avail.
AECARI, Coimbatore has multiple course-specific cutting-edge laboratories for the students to acquire practical lessons. There is an on-campus Healthcare Centre staffed with medical officers, nurses and pharmacist, catering to the medical needs of students and staff. Ambulance service is available round-the-clock to transport those in need of further assistance to nearby hospitals. The Campus of AECARI, Coimbatore has a cafeteria, seminar halls, and other amenities such as photocopying services, dry-cleaning services, parlours, a two-wheeler repair centre, and a footwear repair shop.

Admission Procedure
Eligible candidates can apply for admission to the Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Coimbatore in three specializations under B.Tech on the admission portal of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) and register themselves after duly filling up the forms. The students are shortlisted based on their merit on the previous academic examination after which they need to go through an online counseling procedure. The selected students are required to verify their documents and follow the subsequent admission procedure for securing a seat.
