Be it a refrigerator or an air conditioner, a microwave or a washing machine, there is a bit of LG in most of our homes. The South Korean company has given its product portfolio in India an edge with the unveiling of the LG Essential Series, a new range of home appliances, created keeping Indian insights in mind.
Making last week special for the company were two milestones. First, LG Electronics India shares received strong demand for its initial public offering (IPO). And hours later, the company’s new series was showcased in Mumbai.
“It has been a long journey with incredible India. We have been listening to your stories and learning from your lives. Eventually, earning your trust… We are also taking another meaningful step forward with the launch of the LG Essential Series,” said William (Joowan) Cho, CEO, LG Electronics.

The new series comprises four key appliances for Indian households: double-door refrigerator with frost-free technology and larger vegetable storage, fully automatic top load washing machine built to withstand local conditions like dust, humidity and low water pressure, room air conditioner that reduces energy consumption with Energy Manager+ and Diet Mode+, and convertible oven with Indian Auto Cook menus, air fry and convection modes for healthier cooking.
“In 1997 we established our first plant in Noida. Today, LG has the largest distribution network and our products are available at roughly 35,000 touchpoints… We are market leaders for each individual product category — be it television, refrigerator, washing machine, room AC or microwave oven. Even after 28 years, this year we improved our market share,” said Sanjay Chitkara, CSO, LG Electronics India.
To come up with the new products, LG engaged with 1,200 families across India. “The LG Essential Series marks a new chapter in our commitment to Indian consumers, following the successful market listing of LGEIL,” said Hong Ju Jeon, president of LG Electronics India. “Designed from the ground up with insights from thousands of households, this series brings together premium design and everyday reliability. It addresses the real needs of Indian families with appliances built for local conditions – enhancing convenience and enriching daily life.”
Also spotted in the crowd was actress Taapsee Pannu, who spoke about her connection with LG: “I have a fangirl moment because I have grown up using LG products and also use them currently.”

We had an opportunity to check out some of the devices — starting at around ₹18,000 for entry-level models — that the company will roll out in November.
Take the example of the double-door refrigerator. It combines “simplicity with premium functionality”. The refrigerator offers Frost Free Technology at a reasonable price, eliminating the need for manual defrosting. Its Smart Mode automatically adjusts cooling based on seasonal changes, while a 20 per cent larger (compared to previous models) vegetable storage compartment accommodates bulk grocery shopping.
The fully automatic top loader washing machine too is expected to find takers. The washer features Low Pressure Fill technology for effective washing even at low water pressures. The ProShield Motor with BMC (Bulk Moulding Compound) cover offers enhanced protection against dust, insects and moisture, while the IPX4-certified water-resistant control panel ensures reliable operation in humid conditions.

The room air conditioner comes with features like Energy Manager+ with the “you decide your bill” function, which helps consumers manage energy consumption. The Diet Mode+ feature allows users to manage both cooling temperature and personal comfort.
And there is the Convertible Oven. It is inspired by culinary traditions and includes Auto Cook menus customised for local dishes like ghee, paneer and dal.
