Tribes float forum

Literary organisations of all the tribes of Assam, led by the Asam Sahitya Sabha, have come together on a single platform, Sanmilita Sabha Mancha, Asom, to work for the uplift of the languages of the state. Representatives of all the literary bodies decided to form the forum at a meeting held in Guwahati on Sunday.

AGP protest

AGP legislators on Monday walked out of the Assam Assembly in protest against chief minister Tarun Gogoi?s refusal to set up a house committee to probe ?anomalies? in the recently held recruitment of Assam police.

Bamboo policy

A policy workshop on bamboo in the Bodoland territorial area and a consultative meeting among all the stakeholders in the bamboo sector was held in Kokrajhar recently.

Numaligarh Refinery Ltd has been awarded level-9 certification under the protocol of International Safety Rating System, one of the most prestigious loss-control management systems benchmarking tools.

Student move

Meghalaya education minister Mukul Sangma has expressed concern over the increasing exodus of children from the Northeast to other parts of the country for better educational facilities.

Bank MoU

The State Bank of India has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the State Institute of Rural Development, Assam, for implementation of project Jeevan Jyoti to provide self-employment opportunities for educated youth.

Notification

The Kamrup district magistrate has issued a notification inviting representation from interested persons, organisations or group of people residing within the district with regard to recent recruitment of constables in Assam police.

Food funds

The 2005-06 Union budget has allocated Rs 103 crore for food processing industries in the Northeast as against Rs 62 crore in 2004-05. This was stated in a press information bureau communiqu?.
