Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA), Manipal, was established in 1986 and has emerged as one of the premier institutions in India for developing efficient professionals in the field of hotel and hospitality sector. WGSHA Manipal, is a constituent unit of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), a deemed-to-be-university and an Institute of Eminence by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India and was the first institution in India to provide a degree in hotel management.
WGSHA is a college of international repute and its unique strength is MAHE’s professional collaboration with the Hotels Division of ITC Ltd., one of its kind in the country being the first industry-academia partnership in hotel management education in India. It is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is accredited by Hotel Schools of Distinction (HSD), USA, World Association of Chefs’ Societies (WACS), Indian Federation of Culinary Associations (IFCA). WGSHA is the first and only HSD in the Asia-Pacific region.
The college offers three undergraduate programs namely Bachelor of Hotel Management, Bachelor of Science / Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Culinary Science, and Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Hospitality and Services Management, along with three postgraduate programs such as Master of Hotel Management (MHM), Master of Arts (MA) in Indian Cuisine & Food Culture and Master of Science (M.Sc) in Dietetics & Applied Nutrition. It also offers a host of certification programs including Wine Certification offered by WSET, UK, and courses from City & Guilds, UK, the only college offering these integrated courses in the curriculum. The BHM and B.Sc (Culinary Science) programmes are outcomes of curriculum conclaves held with all stakeholders, the industry, alumni, students, parents, and faculty. At the end of their studies, the students get their degree from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, a deemed to be university under UGC and an Institute of Eminence (IoE) along with transcripts from Hotel Schools of Distinction (HSD) and certificates from City & Guilds, UK and WSET, UK.

Admission Procedure

To get admission into the UG courses of WGSHA Manipal, students have to qualify for a department test (DT), a Panel Interview (PI1), and a Personal Interview (PI2) conducted by the Institute. Students are required to pass the Higher Secondary Examination from any recognised board or equivalent. Candidates seeking admission to PG courses must hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university and admission will be based on Department Test.
