Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Burla (VIMSARB), was established in 1959 as the Burla Medical College and was renamed to its present name in 1967.  VIMSARB aims to be an exceptional academic centre of excellence while affirming and committing to robust scholarship, academic freedom, sound ethical principles, empathy for patients, and social responsibility. VIMSARB strives to produce exceptional accredited graduates who are creative, analytical, eloquent, versatile, life-long learners who contribute to the health, educational, cultural, economic, and natural environments of the society we live in.

Students can pursue the undergraduate course of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at VIMSARB. Applications for admission can be submitted through the official website of VIMSARB. Students need to qualify their 10+2 level examination and NEET or OJEE in order to be eligible for the course. The highly qualified and experienced faculty members of VIMSARB work tirelessly towards imparting quality education, and no effort is spared to ensure the student a better future.VIMSARB is approved by the National Medical Council (NMC) and is affiliated to Sambalpur University.

VIMSARB has the necessary infrastructure to facilitate the all-round development of the students. Regular classes at VIMSARB are conducted in spacious classrooms while the practical sessions take place in specialised well-equipped laboratories. TheVIMSARB Library is well-stocked with related texts.

Students at VIMSARB are accommodated in separate hostels for boys and girls. There are 6 hostels for boys and 3 for girls, each with amenities such as a television room, common room, reading room, and mess with kitchen.

Promoting an active lifestyle,VIMSARB has provisions for sports and games, as well as a well-equipped indoor gymnasium.

VIMSAR Burla Campus also has an auditorium, cafeteria, and shuttle service for all to avail.

Admission Procedure

Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Burla offers an admission procedure for students (co-ed) seeking the undergraduate course of MBBS. Candidates must submit their applications through the official website. After passing their 10+2 examinations, applicants must pass the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) and the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) in order to be eligible for the course. The marks obtained on the entrance examinations will be used to determine the final admission. Any information related to admission must be obtained from the official website by the interested candidates.

VSSIMSR Burla also offers a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Surgery (MS)  in various specializations. Candidates must have passed MBBS or equivalent from any recognized institute to take admission in  PG courses.
