In the year 1948, University of Jammu and Kashmir was established. It was divided in 1969 into two independent universities, University of Kashmir in Srinagar and the University of Jammu in Jammu. University of Kashmir, Srinagar (UK Srinagar) is located in Srinagar's Hazratbal neighborhood. On its eastern and western sides, respectively, UK Srinagar is bordered by the renowned Dal Lake and Nigeen Lake. Hazratbal Campus, Naseem Bagh Campus, and Mirza Bagh Campus make up UK Srinagar's Main Campus, which spans 247 acres of land. UK Srinagar has purchased additional property in Zakura, close to the main campus, to support future growth. The campus' serene atmosphere provides the ideal setting for rigorous study. In order to improve the region's educational, economic, scientific, commercial, and cultural environments, the university is dedicated to offering a stimulating intellectual atmosphere for effective learning. UGC has given UK Srinagar its approval.
