The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata (WBNUJS Kolkata) was established in 1999 under the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences Act, 1999. The goal of WBNUJS Kolkata is to promote interdisciplinary study of law through student-centric education and by nurturing personal as well as intellectual growth in the students. WBNUJS Kolkata is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Bar Council of India (BCI) and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The students are assisted by both the teaching and non-teaching faculty members of the Institute. There are guest lecturers who are invited by the faculty members to facilitate the teaching.

The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences offers a 5 year course in B.A. LL.B. (Hons) at the undergraduate level and LLM and M.Sc at the postgraduate level. The admission procedure is based on the performance of the candidates in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) and an entrance test conducted by the university. The eligibility criteria is determined by the CLAT Consortium of National Law Universities. Apart from the scholarships available through various portals, WBNUJS Kolkata provides the NUJS Merit-cum-Means Scholarship to the students. The internship and employment opportunities for the students are catered by the Campus Recruitment Committee (CRC) which is made up of nine chosen student members. The CRC is responsible for finding recruiters from relevant but diverse fields and overseeing the recruitment logistics all year round.

The WBNUJS Kolkata has all the modern facilities to aid the students in their holistic growth. WBNUJS Kolkata traditional Library has a seating capacity of 400 with 30,000 books,100 journals,13 daily newspapers and an archive section. There is also a digital library which consists of 1794 e-books, 29 IP-based online databases, along with other digital facilities. The University provides hostel facilities with separate accommodation for male and female students with a seat capacity of 500. WBNUJS Kolkata also has the infrastructure for both outdoor games like cricket, football and tennis as well as indoor games like chess, carrom, etc. There is a fully functional computer lab with 81 computer systems. Among other facilities, the Wi-Fi enabled campus also has a modern gym, smart classrooms, a cafeteria, medical facilities, etc. The auditorium is well equipped with the latest audio-visual technologies. The campus also has a moot court to aid the students engage in discussions.

Admission Procedure

Admission to The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, is done online. The students are required to pass their Higher Secondary Examination from any recognised board. WBNUJS Kolkata is co-ed, and qualification in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is required to pursue the BA LL.B(Hons) and LLM course, and the M.Sc Forensic entrance test is conducted by University. For admission to the postgraduate courses, the candidate has to have a bachelor's or equivalent degree in the relevant discipline and have a valid score in CLAT/written examination. 

WBNUJS Kolkata also offers PhD in law and LLD programs. The applicant must hold a Master's degree, such as an LL.M., with at least 55% of the required marks from a university recognised by the UGC. Candidates will be chosen based on their performance in the entrance exam and interview. Candidates applying for an LL.D. programme must hold a PhD in law from a recognised university.

The central organisation for coordinating internship and employment opportunities for The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, graduating class is the Campus Recruitment Committee (CRC).The CRC, made up of nine chosen student members, carries out several different tasks. The Committee is in charge of finding recruiters, assisting the student body in developing marketable legal abilities, and overseeing the year-round recruitment logistics.
