The Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship, Kolkata (ICADK) is a Government-aided college in Kolkata, West Bengal affiliated with the Rabindra Bharati University. ICADK is a University Grants Commission (UGC)-approved institution and is enlisted under the UGC as an undergraduate or UG college.

The Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship, Kolkata was instituted in 1893 by its founder, the late Manmathanath Chakravarty, a famous photographer credited with establishing the foundations of the college, then known as the Indian School of Art. ICADK went on to acquire college status in 1956, followed by the recognition bestowed by the Lalit Kala Academy and the approval of the Rabindra Bharati University in 1966. ICADK is headed by Kasturi Chowdhury, president of the institution.

The Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship, Kolkata is situated on a well-equipped campus in Dum Dum Cossipore Road, Kolkata. The campus houses efficient infrastructure and facilities including spacious and well-equipped classrooms, specific laboratories for fine arts with state-of-the-art facilities, and a well-stocked library with various art-related reference books and journals. ICADK offers undergraduate academic programmes and courses in BFA, (Honours) across four different specialisations.

ICADK hosts four academic departments, namely, painting, applied art, sculpture, and graphics print-making. Candidates aspiring to gain admission into ICADK must meet the eligibility criteria of completing their 10+2 examinations from a recognised board in the relevant stream and subjects. Admissions into ICADK’s BFA programme are conducted based on the candidate’s performance in a written and practical exam conducted by the college. The Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship, Kolkata boasts an eminent and well-educated teaching faculty. Besides academic programmes and courses, ICADK also organises, hosts, and participates in a plethora of cultural, extra-curricular, and competitive events, celebrations, and tournaments. Some of the college’s student activities include the student annual exhibition, cultural celebrations for Teachers’ Day, Saraswati Puja, and Viswakarma Puja, inter-class football tournaments, inter-college decorations, wall painting, and the Ramkinkar Mela.

Admission Procedure

The Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship, Kolkata (co-ed college), offers undergraduate courses in B.F.A(Honours) in four specialisations.
