Techno Polytechnic Durgapur (TPD) is a self-financed Diploma Engineering College in West Bengal that was founded in 2017 with the motto of "man making and nation building." TPD is located in a clean, green, and pollution-free environment near the Kanksa B.D.O. Office, in Panagarh, Paschim Bardhaman. TPD strives to develop and unearth the intrinsic potential and capability of each student so that they can face the global challenges of tomorrow. Techno Polytechnic Durgapur is a part of the Techno India Group (TIG), established in 1984, and providing quality education in science and engineering to the students of West Bengal.

Techno Polytechnic Durgapur offers 4 Engineering Diploma courses: Computer Science and Technology (DCST), Electrical Engineering (DEE), Civil Engineering (DCE), and Mechanical Engineering (DME). TPD is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated to the West Bengal State Council of Technical & Vocational Education and Skill Development (WBSCT&VT&SD). The courses are taught by excellent faculty, who work together with experienced technical assistants to ensure students an enjoyable learning experience. There are 13 specialised well-equipped laboratories and 2 workshops which students from the different departments can avail.

The Training and Placement Cell works closely with numerous reputable industries and oversees all placement-related activities. Campus placement drives are organised for final-year students, where companies such as VA Tech, ACE Designers, LTI, Nirmal Group, Essel, Bajaj Auto, and many more participate. Admission to TPD is based on merit as per the WBSCT&VE&SD rules and regulations. It is necessary that the candidates have a medical fitness certificate in order to be admitted to any of the aforementioned technical courses. Techno Polytechnic Durgapur, through the parent organisation Techno India Group, has tie-ups with American Centre, Kolkata and the British Library. The Institute has separate hostels for boys and girls, a food court, and an emergency healthcare unit on campus. TPD organises cricket, football and other sports tournaments, as well as cultural events like the Annual Fest, Technical Fests, and more.

Admission Procedure

Admission to Techno Polytechnic Durgapur is based on merit as per the WBSCT&VE&SD rules and regulations. Candidates can qualify for polytechnic programmes by passing the Joint Entrance Examination for Polytechnics (JEXPO) and obtaining at least 35% marks in aggregate and English, Physical Science/Science and Mathematics in the 10th standard examination from any recognised board. Candidates can also qualify for lateral entry by passing Vocational Lateral Entry Test (VOCLET) and either passing 10+2 level examinations from a recognised board with the Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, or with Technical Vocational subjects, or passing 2 years at Industrial Training Institute (ITI) after the 10th standard examination. A medical fitness certificate is also necessary for admission to any of the technical courses.

Under the direction of the relevant departments as well as the Industry Institute Partnership Cell of Techno Polytechnic Durgapur, experts from businesses and prestigious institutions are asked to give technical lectures at the college.
