Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, Nagapattinam (TNDJJFU Nagapattinam) was established by the Tamil Nadu government through an act of legislation in 2012. It was named in honour of the late Dr. J. Jayalalithaa, a prominent politician and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Admission Procedure
Tamil Nadu Dr J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, Nagapattinam offers Undergraduate ( B.Voc, B.Sc, B.Tech) degrees and postgraduate (M.Sc, M.Tech) degrees with various specalization. Interested candidates can apply through their official website. To apply for their degree candidate must be qualified basic admission criteria. TNDJFU Nagapattinam conducts admission as per the guidelines of the Indian Council of Agriculture Research. For an Undergraduate degree candidate must be completed a Higher secondary 10+2 degree in the science discipline PCM/PCB with English as a mandatory subject from a recognized board. Final admission is based on merit basis. And for a Postgraduate degree candidates must qualify for an entrance examination ICAR-AIEEA(PG) with valid marks.
TNDJFU Nagapattinam also offers PhD degrees with various specalization. To apply for their PhD degree candidate must complete a master's degree in the relevant discipline. And the candidate must qualify for an entrance examination ICAR-AICE-JRF/SRF with valid marks.

Scholarships
Tamil Nadu Dr J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, Nagapattinam also offers scholarships/fellowships to UG, PG and PhD degree programs. To apply for their (ICAR) fellowship candidate must complete the PG, and PhD entrance examinations with valid marks. Based on their performance in the written test, with 70% marks, the chosen candidates will receive financial support. This grant is only available to students who have an excellent academic record.
