Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law University (TNDALU), Chennai is a government-autonomous state university offering law degrees and courses. The Tamil Nadu Government established TNDALU, Chennai via a State Legislature Act in 1997. Christened after the Indian social reformer and jurist, Dr. BR Ambedkar, Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law University (TNDALU), Chennai was inaugurated by the then-President, K.R. Narayan on September 20, 1997, and officially started operations on October 3, 1997.

TNDALU, Chennai is sited on a 4.2-acre campus equipped with excellent infrastructural facilities such as spacious classrooms, well-equipped seminar halls, an auditorium, state-of-the-art laboratories, a well-equipped library, moot courts, hostel accommodation, cafeterias, medical amenities, transport facilities, and ATM amenities. Undergraduate courses offered at TNDALU, Chennai include a three-year LL.B. degree and a five-year integrated double-degree comprising LL.B. combinations with subjects like BA, B Com, BBA, and BCA. TNDALU, Chennai also has a postgraduate department offering LL.M. degrees over nine branches of study.

TNDALU, Chennai follows an online method of admission and an online testing procedure to select students. Candidates will be chosen based on their academic merit in the qualifying examination. Candidates applying for undergraduate programmes must have passed their 10+2 or equivalent examinations from a recognised board in the relevant stream sector of Arts, Commerce, and Computer Science. Postgraduate applicants must have a three to five-year undergraduate law degree with a minimum of 45% marks.

TNDALU, Chennai boasts a team of skilled professionals, experts, and teachers with vast experience in the law sector. The professors and heads of departments engage with the students in the theoretical and practical analysis of the study of law to assist the students in learning, gathering knowledge, and developing their legal comprehension and skill.

TNDALU, Chennai’s SIIC conducts campus interviews for placements of the students through which several students have been placed at various law firms for serving the Hon’ble High Court Judges, Chennai and provided opportunities to work with various professional sectors with different corporate and IT conglomerates and MNCs.

Admission Procedure

Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law University (TNDALU), Chennai follows an online method of admission. . Only online testing will be used to select students for admission. Candidates will be chosen solely based on merit based on their results in the qualifying examination and in accordance with the reservation guidelines established by the Tamil Nadu state government. UG applicants must have passed (10+2) or any equivalent examination in their respective sectors of Arts, Commerce, and Computer Science.
