Stella Maris College (SMC Chennai), located in Chennai, was established in the year 1947 empowering young women to establish a just and compassionate society, confront life's problems with bravery, and develop a learning environment where everyone, especially those from less fortunate backgrounds, feels a part of the collaborative, high-quality educational process that fosters overall development. For its students, SMC aspires to go above and beyond. The faculty offers a variety of services, including mentorship, career counselling, financial support, and coaching for academic remediation. These services are intended to assist students in honing their abilities and putting them in a position to meet the difficulties of the outside world. SMC is affiliated with Madras University.
The undergraduate courses offered by SMC Chennai are as follows: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Computer Applications, Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Vocational Studies. Both undergraduate and graduate students may enrol at SMC Chennai. Merit-based admissions are used for undergraduate programmes. Students must register and complete the SMC Chennai application form for the course in which they desire to enrol in order to be considered for admission to UG programmes at the college. All programmes at SMC provide full-time coursework. Candidates must be female to apply.
Career guidance programmes are offered through the Career Guidance Cell (CGC) of the Stella Maris Alumnae Association. Both undergraduate and graduate students benefit from the ease of campus recruiting. Career-focused training programmes are set up for final-year students. The CGC coordinates career counselling programmes, campus placement campaigns, and orientations on higher education possibilities throughout the second semester of the school year.
There are five hostels for resident students, and the SMC Chennai Library, located in a two-story structure, is completely computerised and offers a sizable collection of the most recent books, journals, and CD-ROMs. SMC Chennai has a well-maintained canteen serving good food at reasonable prices, and the campus has an infirmary where students who become ill unexpectedly are cared for until their guardians arrive to pick them up. Classrooms are well-furnished, providing the students with an effective academic experience. A female physician is on call three days a week. Some of the services offered include a professional nurse who is on call 24 hours a day to assist her. All the basic facilities are available to the students.

Admission Procedure
Stella Maris College, Chennai accepts students at both the undergraduate and post-graduate levels. Admission to undergraduate programmes is based on merit. The admission in UG programmes requires students to register and complete the SMC Chennai application form for the course in which they wish to enroll. SMC Chennai provides full-time courses in several B.A., B.Sc, B.Com, B.B.A, B.C.A, B.S.W, and B.Voc programmes. Only girl candidates can apply.
SMC Chennai also offers a Postgraduate degree ( M.A / M.SC / M.COM) with various specializations, Interested candidates can apply through their official website. For a postgraduate degree, candidates must qualify an entrance examination conducted by the institute.

Financial assistance, career counselling, mentoring, remedial coaching, and other services are all available from the College faculty. These services are designed to help students improve their skills and prepare them for the challenges that await them in the real world.
Placements
The Stella Maris Alumnae Association's Career Guidance Cell (CGC) provides career counseling and training programmes. It makes campus recruitment easier for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. For final-year students, career-oriented training programmes are organized. During the second half of the academic year, the CGC organizes campus placement drives, career guidance programmes, and orientation on higher education options.
