St. Xavier’s University (SXU Kolkata), Kolkata is a Private Jesuit University that was established on February 8, 2017. SXU, Kolkata aims at forming men and women for others who would be responsible for building a society based on values and emotions like love, freedom, liberty, justice and fraternity. The University provides the students the relevant knowledge and guidance through the large number of faculty members specified for different courses and who have their fair share of experience in teaching and learning.

There are a number of undergraduate courses offered by SXU Kolkata. The courses include Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) (Day), Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) (Morning), Bachelor in Management Studies (Hons.) and Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Economics, English, Mass Communication and Psychology. Apart from these, the SXU Kolkata also offers various postgraduate courses as well as PhD courses as well.

The candidates who wish to get enrolled in SXU Kolkata must have passed their 10+2 examinations conducted by a recognized Board/Council in India. The admission process is carried out by an index based on the aggregate marks obtained by the candidates in the 10+2 level board examinations. However, to get enrolled in the course of Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Mass Communication, the candidates need to take an admission test conducted by the University. The candidates can only apply for these courses after the results for their 10+2 board examination results are declared, except if the candidate is applying for B.A. (Hons.) in Mass Communication.

The SXU Kolkata provides various scholarship programmes to the undergraduate students to aid their academics. Based on different eligibility criteria, the undergraduate students are offered "the Loyola Scholarship", "the Britto Scholarship" and "the Nihil Ultra Scholarship".

SXU Kolkata provides placement assistance to the students who are nearing the end of their courses. The SXU Kolkata undertakes a variety of initiatives that would help the students in the placement process, like internships, campus visits, etc. as well as grooming and training the candidates for the entire process. Various reputed recruiters are invited for the placement process, for example, SVF, Deloitte, Tata Consultancy Services, Chola, PWC, among others. The highest package bagged was ₹ 12LPA.

SXU Kolkata is spread over an area of more than 16 acres with infrastructure to benefit the students as well as the faculty members. The library building, known as the Arrupe Building, is equipped with both traditional as well as digital resources. SXU Kolkata also has hostel facilities with all the necessary amenities. There are separate hostel buildings for boys and girls which can house upto 250 male students and 250 female students. The well-furnished classrooms help in imparting knowledge in a more effective manner. The campus is also equipped with a cafeteria where the students can avail healthy food during their break. Various sports activities are conducted by the University to keep the students physically fit. Apart from these, the University also provides transportation facilities to the students and institute members.

Admission Procedure

St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata offers B.A. (Hons.), B.Com. (Hons.), B.M.S. (Hons.), B.A. LL.B (Hons.), B.Com. LL.B (Hons), M.A., M.Com., M.Sc., M.B.A., M.S.W, and Ph.D. degrees. SXU Kolkata follows the online admission procedure and the online application form can be filled from the university website. For B.A. (Hons.), B.Com (Hons.), and B.M.S (Hons.) admission at SXU Kolkata, candidates must have a minimum of 60% in HSC(10+2) in a relevant stream (including compulsory subjects as mentioned on the university website) from any board. Candidates for Integrated Law program admission at SXU Kolkata must have a minimum of 45% in HSC(10+2) in a relevant stream from any board. The final admission will be based on Admission Test Score conducted by the university.

For M.A., M.Com., M.Sc., M.B.A., M.S.W admission, candidates must have Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject from any UGC-recognized university (candidates are requested to check the website for detailed information). The final admission will be based on Admission Test Score conducted by the university. And the final admission for MBA at SXU Kolkata, any National Level MBA Entrance Test + GD-PI Scores will be used. For all the PG Courses (including MBA) the candidates can apply with the marks up to Sem IV/Year 2 (for 3 years degree courses) or Sem VI/Year 3 (for 4 years of degree courses). For PhD admission at SXU Kolkata, candidates must have Master’s degree in the relevant field from any UGC-recognized University with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade. The final admission will be based on M.Phil/NET/SET/XU-RET + Interview scores.

The students' final placements are the outcome of a very methodical interaction with industry and ongoing career counselling through the Counselling cell of SXU Kolkata. Students are regularly counselled about their career objectives and options from the beginning of the programme, which is then rigorously followed up with possible companies for participation in the SXU Kolkata's placement programme. This not only aids students in obtaining their "dream" careers, but it also aids visiting placement organisations in finding qualified candidates. Along with various industry visits, students are also provided with trainings along with seminars and workshops.
