St. Mary`s College, Thoothukudi (SMC Thoothukudi) is a renowned women's higher education institution, with a 74-year history as a Catholic minority college. The Congregation of Mother of Sorrows Servants of Mary, often known as the Servites, founded St. Mary's College in 1948. SMC Thoothukudi was established in 1948 as a result of the united efforts of the Servite Superiors, Rev. Fr. B.S. Susainather (the former college manager), and Most Rev. Francis Tiburtius Roche S.J., the then Bishop of Thoothukudi, to provide destitute local young girls with higher education.
SMC Thoothukudi's primary purpose is to provide Catholic females with higher education in a Christian environment as a Catholic minority institution. SMC Thoothukudi, which is affiliated with Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, was given autonomy by the UGC in 2009. SMC Thoothukudi offers BA, B.Com, BBA, B.Sc, MHRM, M.Sc M.Com, and MA degrees. Admission to SMC Thoothukudi is done online, and the application form can be obtained on the college's website.
SMC Thoothukudi has a dedicated and trained faculty. The mission of the faculty is to equip young women with the knowledge and abilities they need to compete in the global job and education markets.
SMC Thoothukudi features large classrooms and well-equipped labs in addition to a well-stocked library with internet access, biometric identification, INFLIBNET, blogs, and photocopying capabilities. All administrative offices and departments have access to the intranet. Additional facilities include a contemporary language lab, computer labs, smart classrooms, a conference theatre, an audio-visual room, restrooms, a café, and car parking shelters. Two hostels and a mess are available on the campus. A sizable playground, a gym with all the necessary equipment, and a game area within offer leisure and relaxation. A UGC-funded indoor stadium and 100-bed sports hostel have been built.

Admission Procedure

Candidates must submit an application for admission to any academic programme of choice using the official form found on the college website. The webpage will provide the deadline for online application submission. All original certificates that were contained with the admission application must be produced for verification at the time of the interview. Only those who have been tentatively chosen will be contacted. On the date specified in the email or SMS, they must appear in person, accompanied by their parents, for an interview with the heads of the relevant Departments.
