In 2002, the Catholic Diocese of Palai established St. Joseph's College of Engineering and Technology, Palai (SJCET Palai). SJCET Palai has large and roomy classrooms and well-equipped labs. SJCET Palai established a large Central Library with a 1088 square meter total floor space. The contemporary library combines aesthetics and functionality to store more than 62,000 documents, including technical books, full-text electronic resources, bibliographic databases, print and online journals, digital resources, reports, theses, standards, and periodical back issues. There are more than 65 printed periodicals and technical magazines that the library subscribes to. The library uses the open-access model. The library has subscriptions to both electronic books and journals. For recreation, SJCET Palai has well-maintained grounds for cricket, football, volleyball, and athletics. SJCET Palai also has a modern gymnasium with all-body training equipment.
SJCET Palai has a separate Training and Placement Cell, headed by a Placement Officer and supported by final-year student members. SJCET Palai focuses on understanding the requirements of the corporate world and seeks to appropriately develop the abilities of students through career counseling. It is instrumental in providing students with proper information about market changes, industry expectations, nature of opportunities, salary structure, etc. It continuously interacts with the industry for student projects, internships, and placement openings. It guides and helps the final year students in securing jobs commensurate with their knowledge and achievements, through On Campus and Off Campus Interviews.
SJCET Palai offers different types of scholarships for those seeking admissions and the scholarship which is found to be the best for the candidate under consideration would be offered. To retain the scholarship in a semester, a student should have to pass all the subjects in that semester on the first chance.

The students interested in seeking admission at the esteemed College can apply through the university's admission department. The admissions for the undergraduate courses (B.Tech) are made according to the merits secured by the students in their 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board in the relevant subject discipline.
