St. Berchmans College, Kottayam (SBC Kottayam), was established in 1922 by the Diocese of Changanassery of the Catholic Church. Recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, SBC, Kottayam offers 16 undergraduate (UG) and 20 postgraduate (PG) courses for students to pursue.

The UG courses are for the degrees of Bachelor of Arts (B.A), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc) and Bachelor of Library Science (B.Lib.Sc); while the PG courses are for Master of Arts (M.A), Master of Commerce (M.Com), Master of Science (M.Sc), Master of Social Work (MSW), Master of Business Administration (MBA), and Master of Library Science (M.Lib.Sc). Admission to the aforementioned courses at SBC,Kottayam takes place online.
