School of Tropical Medicine, Kolkata (STM Kolkata) was initiated by Sir Leonard Rogers in 1914 when the foundation stone was laid by Governor Lord Carmichael. STM Kolkata started functioning independently in 1921 starting its first batch with a Diploma course. It is the first and only institution in India that is concerned about research, education, and treating tropical diseases. Currently, STM Kolkata is affiliated with the West Bengal University of Health Sciences. The hospital part of STM Kolkata is named Carmichael Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

Phil] on Regenerative Medicine & Translational Science; Doctor of Medicine [MD] in Tropical Medicine, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Dermatology, Venereology, and Leprosy; Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene [DTM&H] in Tropical Medicine and Health; Diploma in Clinical Pathology [DCP] in Clinical Pathology; Diploma in Laboratory Technique [DLT], and Master of Science [M.Sc.] in Medical Biotechnology.
STM Kolkata has a dedicated infrastructure, which provides the best possible education and training in the field of tropical medicine.
