R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital (RGKMCH Kolkata) is one of the oldest and most prestigious government medical colleges and hospitals in Kolkata, West Bengal. It was first established in 1886 during British rule. It was affiliated to University of Calcutta from 1916-2003; in 2003, it became affiliated with The West Bengal University of Health Sciences. RGKMCH Kolkata is approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI).

RGKMCH Kolkata is a premier medical institution offering undergraduate and post graduate degrees. To obtain admission at RGKMC Kolkata, applicants are required to qualify the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET). Thereafter, applicants are judged on the basis of exam scores and academic merit. While the admission criteria and eligibility differ from course to course, all students must have passed their 10+2 school leaving test from a recognised board of secondary education. 

RGKMCH Kolkata also gives an opportunity for a range of scholarships and financial aids for needy meritorious students and they offer stipend internships. Admission Procedure

R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital’s admissions are conducted online counselling. To apply for their undergraduate degrees like MBBS, and B.Sc in Nursing, and postgraduate degrees like MD, DM, MChM. Sc in Nursing, candidates must meet all the required eligibility requirements of the course in which the candidate is applying for. The candidate has to go through the admission counselling process for the NEET (National Eligibility Entrance Test)-UG qualified candidates. For taking admission in the Nursing course, JENPAS-UG (Joint Entrance Test for Nursing, Paramedical and Allied Sciences Under Graduate Courses) scores are required. While the admission criteria and eligibility differ from course to course, all students must have passed their 10+2 school leaving test from a recognised board of secondary education. Most importantly the admission takes place when the candidate has a valid score in the National Eligibility Entrance Test - NEET-UG, NEET-PG and NEET-SS. The admission depends purely on merit.
