Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal (RIMSI) is a government-run medical college located in Imphal, Manipur, India. Established in 1972, the institute is spread across an area of 300 acres and is affiliated with Manipur University. Recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) RIMSI offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various fields of medicine and health sciences. RIMSI offers undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). The duration of the MBBS course is 5.5 years, including a one-year internship. The BDS course is also of 5 years duration. It also offers postgraduate courses in various fields of medicine, including Doctor of Medicine (MD), and Master of Surgery (MS). The duration of the postgraduate courses varies from 3 to 5 years, depending on the specialization. Apart from the undergraduate and postgraduate courses, RIMSI Imphal lso offers doctoral programs in various fields of medicine and health sciences. For admission to the undergraduate MBBS and BDS courses, candidates need to appear for the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Candidates who qualify for the NEET-UG examination are eligible to participate in the counselling process conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). For the postgraduate MD, MS, and MDS courses, candidates need to appear for the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET-PG) conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). Candidates who qualify for the NEET-PG examination are eligible to participate in the counselling process conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). RIMSI Imphal has well-equipped laboratories, lecture halls, libraries, and computer labs. The institute also has a hospital with a capacity of 1075 beds, which provides medical facilities to the people of Imphal and surrounding areas. The hospital has various departments, including Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Radiology, and Pathology, among others. The institute has a central library with a collection of over 36,000 books, 170 journals, and access to online journals and databases.
