RCCIIT, Kolkata was established in 1999 by the Regional Computer Centre (RCC) of Jadavpur University, Kolkata as a joint project of the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, and the Ministry of Communication and IT, Government of India.

Admission Procedure
Students interested in taking admission to the B.Tech course at RCC Institute of Information Technology, Kolkata have to qualify for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) or Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Main). To be eligible for admission, students should have passed 10+2 or an equivalent exam from a recognized board.
RCCIIT Kolkata also offer Postgraduate degree such as M.Tech and MCA. Students must have a bachelor's degree in a related discipline and a passing score and rank on the Postgraduate Entrance Test (PGET) or Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) admission exam in order to apply for the M.Tech programme. Students must have completed their 10+2+3 requirements from a UCG-recognized university in any discipline in order to be eligible to apply for a master's degree in computer science.
