Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda College, Chennai (RMVC) was established in 1946 and is a unit of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Chennai. The Vidyapith, and by extension, RMVC Chennai, is a branch of the Ramakrishna Mission in Belur Math, West Bengal. The goal of RMVC Chennai is to instil value-based education by enabling each person to grow in self-assurance, belief in oneself, and compassion for all beings as demonstrated by Swami Vivekananda's message of life.
Recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), RMVC Chennai is affiliated to the University of Madras. Students can pursue 20 undergraduate (UG), 13 postgraduate (PG), and 7 doctorate (PhD) courses at RMVC Chennai. The UG courses are for the degrees of Bachelor of Arts (B.A), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), and Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA); while the PG courses comprise Master of Arts (M.A), Master of Science (M.Sc), Master of Social Work (MSW), and the research degree of Master of Philosophy (M.Phil). Students of RMVC are advised to submit their applications in the required format by the deadline for scholarships offered by the State Government, the Central Government, "the Adi-Dravida Welfare Department", and t"he College Endowments". The college won't make the effort to secure the scholarships.
