Ramkrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational Research Institute (RKMVERI), Howrah was established in 2005 by the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, implementing the vision of the prophet of modern India, Swami Vivekananda. Swamiji emphasised on the importance of education not just as an academic endeavour, but as an exercise in character building.

RKMVERI aims to combine the spirituality of the East with the scientific temperament of the West while educating the students. RKMVERI is neither a regularly government-funded institution nor a self-financing or private university functioning with the aim of commercial viability. As such, RKMVERI accepts contributions from philanthropists to keep the organisation carrying on the good work.

RKMVERI offers 1 integrated, 6 postgraduate (PG), 1 postgraduate diploma (PG DIP), and 16 doctorate (PhD) courses. The courses are as follows: Integrated: B.A (Hons)+M.A in Sanskrit. Postgraduate: M.Sc in Computer Science, Big Data Analytics, Mathematics, Physics, Yoga, and Sports Science. Postgraduate Diploma: Yoga. Doctorate: PhD in Graph Theory and Graph Algorithms, System and Software Reliability, Computational Geometry, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning, Optimisation for Machine Learning, Mathematics, Layered Oxide Materials with Quantum Spin Liquid States, Exotic Properties of Novel Quantum Materials, such as High Temperature Superconductivity, Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics, Theoretical High Energy Physics, Particle Physics and Phenomenology, Sanskrit, Yoga, and Sports Science. Aside from the aforementioned educational activities, RKMVERI also actively participates in a variety of outreach programmes designed to benefit society as a whole. RKMVERI operates the Vivekdisha network, which is based on information and communication technology and performs a variety of activities such as providing online education from secondary to undergraduate levels, undertaking research programmes, operating a portal for taking online examinations, conducting online teacher training and workshops, and so on. A Krishi Vigyan Kendra, an initiative of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for technology transfer in agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, aquaculture, and other fields, is also run by RKMVERI. Ramkrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational Research Institute is a Deemed-to-be-University and is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Students can check the admission portal on the official website of RKMVERI to apply for the aforementioned courses.

The extremely qualified and talented faculty endeavours to guide the young minds in line with the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. RKMVERI provides the necessary infrastructure to ensure the all-round development of the students.

The Central Library at RKMVERI has a collection of over 2500 books on Philosophy, Sanskrit, and allied subjects. Hostel accommodations are provided only to boys at RKMVERI. RKMVERI promotes an active lifestyle and has both indoor and outdoor sports facilities such as football, volleyball and table tennis. Students can also avail a fully-equipped indoor gymnasium and a recreation room which serves as a yoga centre on the Campus of RKMVERI.

Provision for karate classes is also present on the RKMVERI Campus. There are specialised state-of-the-art laboratories present at RKMVERI for the students and staff to avail for learning and research. RKMVERI also has spacious classrooms, and seminar halls to host various academic and cultural events.

Admission Procedure

For Boys - Eligible candidates who have passed their 10+2 board examinations should register themselves through the online admission portal for Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute, Howrah and apply for the course and pay the application fees after which the necessary documents need to be uploaded to download the application form. The admission procedure consists of an entrance test conducted in two parts. The candidates need to pass the Primary Admission Test conducted by RKMVERI or secure a score above 70% in National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted by CUET to appear for the Amin Entrance Test which includes a written test and an interview. The students finally shortlisted will be based largely on the cumulative results of the board examinations at the 10th and 10+2 levels and the entrance examination.

For Girls - Eligible Candidates who have passed their 10+2 board examinations can physically collect the admission form from the campus of RKMVERI or download it from their website. The hard copies of the filled-up application form along with the necessary documents should be submitted to RKMVERI campus and an application fee should be paid in cash. An admission test in written form followed by a counseling procedure will ensure the admission of the candidates.
