Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Amethi (RGIPT Amethi), is an Institution of National Importance that was established in 2007 by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas of the Government of India.
RGIPT Amethi is an autonomous institution, approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and offers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs such as Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), Master of Technology (MTech), Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degrees. RGIPT Amethi also provides an online admission system, making it easier for students to apply and enrol.
RGIPT Amethi is home to a highly qualified faculty, who are dedicated to helping students reach their potential and gain the skills they need to succeed.
In addition, RGIPT Amethi boasts a well-functioning Training and Placement Cell. Recruiters such as ONGC, BPCL, IOCL, HPCL, GAIL, OIL and OIDB have been known to regularly visit the campus in order to select students for their respective organisations.

A traditional library and digital library provide students with the necessary resources to excel in their studies. In addition, RGIPT Amethi offers accommodation in well-maintained hostels, making it a complete residential campus. RGIPT Amethi also provides students with a variety of sports facilities. In addition, an indoor gymnasium, cafeteria, and medical facilities are available to ensure the health and wellbeing of all students. RGIPT Amethi also offers state-of-the-art classrooms, labs, and lecture halls, all equipped with Wi-Fi. In addition, a shuttle service is available to ease the commute of both students and faculty. An auditorium is available for hosting various events. Furthermore, the campus also has an ATM in order to facilitate financial transactions.

Admission Procedure
Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Amethi follows an online admissioon procedure. Students need to score a minimum of 60% in their last qualifying examination (10+2 for undergraduate candidates and graduation for postgraduate candidates) to be to be eligible foor admissions at RGIPT Amethi. For admission to the B.Tech courses, students need to qualify the IIT-Joint Entrance Examination, while for admissions to thhe MBA courses, students need to qualify Common Aptitude Test (CAT), Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Joint Entrance Management Aptitude Test (JEMAT). For admission to the M.Tech courses, candidates need to qualify the Graduation Aptitute Test for Engineering (GATE).

Because of its heritage, RGIPT Amethi is ideally situated to take use of the vast industrial network it has built on its own and through its promoters, the top PSUs for oil (ONGC, BPCL, IOCL, HPCL, GAIL, OIL and OIDB). In order to carry out this endeavour, the Training and Placement Cell was established. Through seminars, summer internships, research projects, and other on- and off-campus initiatives, this cell maintains ongoing contact with the industry. The prospective companies are given access to the student profiles who are looking for placement assistance. As part of the placement programme, courses on personality development and thorough interview preparation are given.
