Queen Mary's College (QMC Chennai), located in Chennai, was established in 1914 and has now become one of the leading institutions for women’s education in India. QMC Chennai aims to provide relevant and meaningful education to women so that they can be well equipped and socially aware.
The Government-run institute is affiliated to University of Madras and has been approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Students are taught by an experienced group of faculty members who are dedicated to guide them in the right path.
Undergraduate courses offered by QMC Chennai are B.A. in English Literature, Economics, Economics - Shift II, History, Indian Music, Sanskrit, Sociology, Sanskrit, Tamil Literature and Telugu; B.Com(Hons); B.Com in Corporate Secretaryship; B.Sc. in Plant Biology & Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geography, Home Science-Nutrition, Food Service Management and Dietetics, Home Science-Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, Mathematics, Physical Education, Health education and Sports, Physics and Advanced Zoology and Biotechnology. Admission at QMC Chennai is conducted offline. Candidates have to meet all the eligibility criteria to apply for admission. They have to collect application forms from the office and within ten days, the application forms have to be submitted. Most importantly, students must have completed 10+2 from a recognized board. Students can avail various scholarships from Central government and State government and concessions. Many education loans are also available for students.
Students are provided with several coaching classes in Computer Hardware Maintenance, MS Office tools and Internet, Mobile Phone Maintenance, Financial Accounting, Software Tally, and Auto Cad by the Placement Cell of QMC Chennai. Reputable companies such as WIPRO, Southerland, Tally, and HCL take an active part in placement drives.
Basic academic facilities provided by the QMC Chennai include a huge library having both physical and e-resources, well-equipped laboratories, well-equipped classrooms and a big auditorium cum seminar hall. Besides, there is a gym, hostel accommodation, outdoor sports facilities and medical facilities are available for students.

Admission Procedure
Queen Mary's College’s admissions are conducted through offline mode. To apply for their undergraduate degrees like B.A, B.Sc, B.Com, B.Com(Hons), and B.C.A, candidates must meet all the required eligibility requirements of the course in which they candidate is applying for. The candidate has to obtain the application form the College Office along with the Prospectus, and the card intimating the dates for general counselling for all the courses. The candidate has to submit the application form within 'ten' working days to the College Office, after the declaration of the 10+2 results, failing which, the application will be treated as Late Application. While the admission criteria and eligibility differ from course to course, all students must have passed their 10+2 school leaving test from the Tamil Nadu State Board or its equivalent board of secondary education. Primarily the admission of QMC Chennai takes place by direct admission method.
QMC Chennai also offers Postgraduate courses in M.A, M.Sc, M.Phil and PhD. Candidates seeking admission to the M.A & M.Sc courses should have passed their UG exam from a recognized university and a Master's degree with at least 60% is required for M.Phil and PhD courses.

Placements
Free coaching classes in Computer Hardware Maintenance, MS Office tools and Internet, Mobile Phone Maintenance, Financial Accounting, Software Tally, and Auto Cad were organised for students by the Placement Cell of QMC Chennai to keep up with the employment opportunities in IT (Information Technology) related fields. Several students have been placed at IT businesses such as WIPRO, Sutherland, Tally, and HCL thanks to the efforts of the Placement Cell. As indicated by the placement of Home Science students in the MV Diabetes Care Centre and Chemistry students in Domes-e-data, employment through the Cell is not limited to IT.
