Nirmala College, Ranchi (NCR) was established in 1969 by the Society of Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary. NCR was founded with the primary objective of offering young women from the region the prospect of higher education in an ambience of simplicity, sincerity, care, and faith. The Institute is a College with Potential for Excellence (CPE) and is affiliated to Ranchi University.
NCR offers 19 undergraduate (UG) and 5 postgraduate (PG) courses. The UG courses are: B.A. (Hons) in Economics, English, Geography, Hindi, History, Philosophy, Political Science, and Psychology; B.Sc. (Hons) in Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Zoology; B.Com. (Hons); Bachelor of Computer Application; Bachelor of Business Administration; and B.Voc. in Fashion Designing. The PG courses which students can pursue at NCR are for the degree M.A. in Economics, Hindi, History, Political Science, and Geography.
Regular classes are conducted by highly qualified faculty members who work tirelessly towards imparting quality education to young minds.
The Career Counselling and Placement Cell of NCR in association with the EXCEL Programme by Tata Institute of Social Sciences organises placement drives for the students, inviting reputed companies such as TCS, IBM, Concentrix, etc. Nirmala College, Ranchi strives to provide the best available infrastructure to ensure the all-round development of the students.
The General Library at NCR has a collection of over 32000 books, and hundreds of journals, periodicals and newspapers, and also offers a Book Bank and photocopying facilities. The digital section of the Library provides access to more than 3800 e-journals and 80000 e-books under the UGC-INFLIBNET N-LIST programme. Limited students are provided hostel accommodations in Nirmala Hostel, managed by the Society of Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary. NCR promotes an active lifestyle for the students and has provisions for multiple sports such as football, basketball, volleyball, badminton, hockey, netball, and table tennis. Facilities for athletics and karate are also available on the NCR Campus.
The classrooms at NCR are equipped with multimedia facilities. Practical classes are conducted in specialised cutting-edge laboratories under the various departments. NCR has a state-of-the-art auditorium with a seating capacity of 700, which serves as a multipurpose hall for hosting indoor games tournaments, Youth Festivals and Symposiums sponsored by UGC, ICSSR, ICHR, NAAC and RUSA, and as a centre for Centralized Evaluation of Ranchi University. NCR has a Health Room with first-aid facilities and a visiting doctor every weekend. In cases of emergency, medical assistance is provided by MECON Hospital, Ranchi. NCR Canteen serves delicious and hygienic food at subsidised rates. The NCR Campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled and has a Utility Centre for daily needs items and stationery items, and a ramp facility to make the premises wheelchair-friendly.
Admission Procedure
The eligible candidates who have passed their 10+2 board examinations can apply to the Nirmala College, Ranchi through their online portal in one or more subjects of their choice along with paying the application fees for every subject. The admission is done on the basis of merit and the shortlisted candidates are required to ensure their seats by getting their documents verified and paying the fees.
Faculty
There are more than 60 faculty members at Nirmala College, Ranchi. The faculty members are highly qualified and use their knowledge and expertise to help the students in learning through theoretical amd practical sessions.
