Netaji Subhash Open University, Kolkata (NSOU) was established on 25th of November in the year 1997. It is affiliated with the UGC. NSOU is modelled after IGNOU and the open university in the UK; as a result it offers distance education. The mode of instruction in NSOU is English and Bengali.

Netaji Subhash Open University offers courses across six disciplines. They are Social Sciences, Humanities, Science, Education, Professional Studies, and Vocational Studies. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees including Doctoral degrees for the aforementioned disciplines. NSOU currently has 150 study centers and is looking forward to expanding in the future.

Admission Procedure

Admission at the Netaji Subhash Open University, Kolkata is done through online registration. It offers B.A and B.Sc degrees under a number of specializations. The students are admitted based on merit and interview sessions. 

NSOU Kolkata offers postgraduate M.A., M.Sc, M.Com, and PhD courses in various disciplines. Any postgraduate course requires graduation from the relevant stream as a prerequisite.  The decision will be made based on merit.
A bachelor's or master's degree in the humanities, social sciences, or sciences with a minimum grade point average of 50% is required for admission to the B.Ed programme.
