National Law School of India University (NLSIU Bengaluru), located in Bengaluru, started its journey as the first National Law University across the country in 1986 under the National Law School of India Act (Karnataka Act 22 of 1986). The autonomous university was set up with a major aim to provide opportunities for students to learn legal education through an inclusive, progressive and innovative approach. NLSIU Bengaluru has been approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI).

During their first and second year of B.A LL.B degree program students are encouraged to do a 3-4 week internship. Various companies are allowed to conduct video conferencing interviews with students. The library has around 50,000 books, 20,000 journals and an e-library having access to e-resources are also some of the basic facilities offered along with spacious classrooms, a moot court for the practical practice of law, on-campus Wi-Fi connectivity, separate hostel accommodation for girls and boys, sports facilities for both outdoor and indoor games, a recreation room, medical facilities including a health centre and a hygienically maintained cafeteria.

Admission Procedure
National Law School of India University, Bengaluru offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses. Under its five-year integrated UG program, they provide B.B.A + LL.B (Hons.). Candidates must take the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) in order to be considered for admission. After confirming that they meet all eligibility requirements, applicants must submit an application for admission to NLSIU Bengaluru. An applicant must have earned a Master's in Law from a recognised university with a minimum grade point average of 55% in order to be admitted to the PhD degree programme. The National Law School Admissions Test (NLSAT-PhD), an all-India written admissions test, will be used for programme admission
An all-India written admission test (NLSAT-MPP) and a personal interview are the two stages of the national-level examination process that will determine admission to the Master in Public Policy programme. A candidate for admission to the LLM programme must hold an LL.B. degree or pass an equivalent exam with at least a 50% score in order to be considered for admission to the postgraduate programme. They must also take the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
